@Saka they can't pull the bunnies out of the hat, and they're asking them to pull hippos out of the hat 🤣

@DoctorEldritch I just tried the demo (chapter 1 is awesome) and I saw that they did a condensed video for each previous Tekken to summarize what happened (so 7 videos in total)

That reminded me of the exchange between Roper Klacks and April in the first The Longest Journey:

April : How did you do that?
Roper Klacks : Alchemy, little girl. The most powerful magic.
April : Yeah, well, I can pull a rabbit out of a hat.
Roper Klacks : I can pull a hat out of a rabbit. What is your point?

That is a nice addition and shows dedication. It is good when games do that, and most good ones do. But also, makes sense purely from a gamer convenience viewpoint: there are so many previous games now that entry bar for new gamers may be high without doing something like this.

@GoLLuM13 If this is how Fntastic bosses ran business, then I want to say it is surprising that they remained in business this long. I want to say that, but bad working conditions are a well-known bane of the modern gaming world, sadly. Not to mention all those layoffs this year as well...

But at least maybe in this case legal action is actually possible? I can see a false advertising case here at the very least. But I have no legal expertise at all.

As for Gollum, your reasoning sounds solid to me, I just want to add that it is always risky to branch out genre-wise to things you have not tried. And as @Saka said, Daedalic was mostly point-and-click adventures before. Sure, there are some success stories when studios manage to do that gracefully. Just this year, for example, we got Talos Principle 2, developers of which, Croteam, were mostly famous as the team that made Serious Sam games. but for every success story, there are more stories of failure. Sadly, Daedalic is on of those, and an epic one to boot.

I guess it as a leap of faith and it failed.

To add to what I said above:

@DoctorEldritch I agree if you're an Opera singer you probably won't know how to do Heavy Metal, and vice versa, even if you can read the notes and sing in tune, but in our example (Gollum) it's like the singer never learned singing and is out of tune in every possible aspect of the game, which makes it sadder

@GoLLuM13 I think @DracoTarot recently had an example of Opera+Heavy Metal combo. So stranger things have happened.

Well, coming back to what you said about the problems between various departments, I am reminded of a quote from Little Prince:

It was more complex than that, but the principle still applies, I'd say.

@DoctorEldritch Opera + Metal will technically be called Symphonic Metal or Opera Metal and not Heavy Metal 👀 @DracoTarot will correct me if I'm wrong.

But yes, we got the idea, we will not judge a monkey on his ability to swim, or a fish on his ability to climb a tree, and say they're bad 🤣
But again with Gollum, there's nothing right in it, not even the modeling of the main character 🤣

@GoLLuM13 You are indeed correct. It's called Symphonic Metal. 😊
