@DoctorEldritch Yeah lol! Old is gold!! There is a new Nosferatu on the way and they chose the appropriate actor for the role. Willam Dafoe will be the lead actor.

I also like Jonny Depp in Dark Shadows!!

I really love Crhistopher Lee and Bela Lugosi. In fact, Lugosi was so iconic back in the day that it actually shaped the romantized and beautiful image of vampires till this day, and also the portrayal the actor gave to the character, with that long cape and slick back hair also shaped the whole Goth Subculture and inspired music and style. As a goth myself, I feel I cant thank him enough for that (I mean Lugosi is dead already).

Here is a song in his honour, original from Bauhaus(basically one of the bands that gave birth to goth music in the 80s as a genre separated from rock or metal), covered by Cvrches.

And also no one is talking about Alucard from Helsing, one of the most terrifying versions of vampires out there.

@galadrielmt I really like the old movies. Nosferatu is one of the greats. The movie What we do in the Shadows has its own rendition of Nosferatu and the actor did play the role well.

I mention to @DoctorEldritch that they are filming a new Nosferatu. William Dafoe is going to be the lead actor. Can't wait for the new release! 😀
@GoLLuM13, I really liked What we do in the shadows!

And Gary Oldman was absolutely awesome and his version is actually the most accurate to the original book, with some more romantic touches added. And his style was amazing, like, i mean... no one can beat that class.

I agree with you on what you've said. As a goth myself..."old school goth" Bela Legosi is a true icon of our culture and the band Bauhaus is also one of my favourites.

If I may mention a new age goth band, well actually they are more darkwave you may know is Blutengel. They mostly focus on the vampire theme in their music videos.

Just thought it was worth the mention since we are all discussing vampires! 😃

Once again I agree with you. He is a great actor and fits the role perfectly.

Just look at this face, who can't say no to Dafoe? He was made for the role.

We also had a Netflix series about Nosferatu, NOS4A2. The first season was amazing, the second was good-ish, but the last was bad. I just watched to finish the show.

@DracoTarot - Willem Da Foe is a grand actor and Nosferatu is not his first rodeo with vampire movies. He was also in:

    Shadow of the vampire

    Daybreakers (an awesome vamp film)

and Cirque du Freak: The vampire's assistant.

I saw that one, but it was a long time ago, I do not remember most of it. And I did not see the original, either. But what I can say is, I always thought that they should have named their remake Deep Shadows instead of Dark Shadows, and then PR it as "Depp in Deep". Puns galore!

@galadrielmt Bela Lugosi is a classic one, yes. I like Christopher Lee a bit more, maybe because he had this...I dunno, a knack for dark characters. Dracula, Count Dooku, Saruman... Not his only roles, of course, he was thankfully blessed with a very long and fruitful career for all of us to enjoy his legacy, but if you needed a "charismatic evil", he was the man to call.

But I definitely agree that while Lee's legacy in the cinema world is indisputable, Bela Lugosi has done more for both goth subculture, as you mentioned, and vampires. And black and white also adds a certain je ne sais quoi.

But I am afraid I have not watched Hellsing, what makes Alucard so terrifying?

Yes, and I saw the poster, this is exciting! I am waiting to see how they manage, to me, part of the charm and "effect" of the original film was that it was not in colour and silent. I do not know much about the new one, have not looked into it yet, so maybe you know, but I do not think they would go down the same route. This is partially a shame, being silent, the original relied on shots, and we go so many iconic ones from there, I mean, the door frame one, the staircase, and many others, it is still an unmatched masterpiece. And while I am all for Defoe and hope he will do well, I do feel a bit of fear, for they need to pay homage to the colossus.

But all the more reason to wait and see!
