    Hello Legion Gamers!

As we're approaching Autumn, we're entering a period when many shows start (or continue) to run. So I thought it'd be a good time to collect the upcoming animated series based on different games, so noone would miss anything they may like to watch. So here goes all that I know:

Firstly, there is the second season of Cyberpunk 2077: Edgerunners in production, here is a little teaser:

Seems that it will focus on new characters, which makes sense considering how the first season ended.

Then, Ubisoft opted to give Splinter Cell to animation rather than live action (there were rumours that Tom Hardy could have played Sam), and now we'll get an animated series instead:

This show has the benefit of Derek Kolstad (writer for John Wick) being a producer and writer here. If Sam Fisher turns out as good as Baba Yaga, I am all for it 😅

That's not all! Some of you may remember that not that long ago, Lollipop Chainsaw got a remaster (or was it a remake?), and if this does not ring a bell, you can read all about it in this post by @GoLLuM13 from a year ago. It seems that the new edition worked well for the developers, so much so, in fact, that they are working on a new game and an anime adaptation, as they shared on their Twitter/X account:

They may share more details as time goes on! And to wrap it up, here is something a little different: a reverse where a game is being made based on a series. Specifically, Netflix series Hot Wheels Let's Race is getting a game adaptation called Hot Wheels Let’s Race: Ultimate Speed:

I never watched it, but I guess it was good enough to have its very own game. Good news for racing fans!

And that's it, this is all I got, as far as animated series are concerned. Maybe you know something I missed? 😉

Interesting to see how something like Splinter Cell will work as an animation. Live action would be the more obvious route.

Feels like you'd have to tone it down for an animation if it's targeting more younger people.

Hmmm, there´s plenty of animation that´s quite gore/adult in their subjects, but yes, in this particular case, I´d go for live action. But who knows? Maybe they´ll make an incredible animation : )
Have you watched Edgerunners/are you into Cyberpunk?

I guess it's easyer with animation first than direct to the moovie

    Do you think so?
Actually, animation is surprisingly expensive!! (good animation 😅)

    @miskkie
Yeahhh, I'm looking forward to the second season (though I guess they'll introduce new characters?). By the way, what's your profile pic? Looks cool : )

To be fair, the iconic Sam Fisher, if you're going for 100% completion, aims for the Footprint Zero achievement or The Invisible Man or whatever it is called in other games of the series. You get that if you manage to complete a mission without being detected once. As in, no killings or anything like that, just stealth and mission goal. From this angle, the animation may pull off a younger rating as it may not feature violence that much.

The challenge I see is how to keep the tension up in stealth. In games, it is easy as the player is in control, but in animation, it is more of a challenge. Maybe they will bet on a good and engaging plot, but these days you need to be lucky to end up with one of those 😅

I remember reading somewhere that special effects are much cheaper and easier in animation than in live action, which sounds about right. And for that reason, games may be better suited for animated rather than live adaptations, the argument was.

Perhaps. Depends on how many special effects they want to put in. It would certainly be cheaper to blow up a helicopter in animation rather than in live action 😅

Maybe if animation does well, we'll get a live action too at some point, though I would not count on it, live has too many variables. Look at what is happening with the God of War live adaptation and the choice of an actor to play Kratos. Sam Fisher is no less iconic. Who would even be good to play him? I do not really see Tom Hardy as a good choice here, to be honest.
