@ZaidH I personally liked the comment about water textures. Because I really never did care about that and do not get why developers make such a big deal out of it. The only game where it was appropriate was RDR2.

The game pokes fun at RPG cliches. Sometimes well, sometimes not, and the mechanics are somewhat basic, but there aren't too many games out there that are poking fun at the industry and genre, everyone is so serious these days, so it is a nice change of pace.

Reminded me of that tarot meme from Parks & Recreation:

@DoctorEldritch I Don't know if that's true but it sounds about right.

@DoctorEldritch Those two cards together in a draw reflect the Death of something old and the start of something new. If the draw also contains the Wheel of Fortune card, you're in for a treat. 😊

@DracoTarot Maybe it's true. But the increase in production cost is reflected in the game price, as well. Personally, I see remasters as one of two things: it is either a genuine interest in game preservation and making sure the new generation of games can, in some capacity, try the classics. System Shock, LBA, Yakuza would fall into this category. Or it is more of a money-making strategy, for example, did Zero Dawn really need a remaster so soon? And then there are mixes of the two: Alan Wake needed a remaster, but they also timed it to benefit from the hype that the second part created.

But this statement does look like it would align with current corporate strategies...

That is good to know, turns out in Tarot, that sometimes "Death" really does mean "Change". Monkey Island was right 😉 What did the cards say about the games, though?

@DoctorEldritch Remastering a classic game is a good idea, and I'm all for it. Diablo 2 remastered turned out great, but like you said, there are limits to it. I would say developers and studios must wait at least 10 years before doing a remaster if the title is worth it.

Funny you've mentioned Yakuza. Yesterday I came across an article about Yakuza 0. According to the publisher, Yakuza 0 is still the best one of them all.

Don't know what is your opinion on this one. 😊

The cards haven't revealed much about the games. I guess it would be all to my intuition. 😊

@DracoTarot 10-15 years sounds about right. I'd say the time is when emulators do not do a good job anymore, there is a limit to what they can do. Until then, people can just use emulators instead of a remaster.

I'd agree, Yakuza 0 is a great game, some say the best of the bunch indeed. @ZaidH what say you?

Maybe choosing a game is not too serious a question for the cards to feel the need to bother? Not worth their time 😉

110% agreed with TheGamer’s statement on Yakuza 0. Playing Yakuza 0, Persona 5, and Nier: Automata in the same year was a life changing experience 😁

@DoctorEldritch, the other thing with emulators is that they are unstable. The ones I used in the past had a lot of crashes. I also had issues with saves. It's kinda frustrating when progressing in a game and then running it through an emulator and the saved files are missing. I'd rather wait for the remastered version. 😊

Well, it's decided then Yakuza 0 is the best of all time. 😊

Yeah, the cards do not seem to be interested in sharing much info about games. They are being stubborn. 😂

In other news, this is what we have to deal with this week in SA. I wonder if there's an undersea cable break again. The media does not elaborate on this. 😑

@DracoTarot I think it may be on a case-to-case basis. Emulator specs are often made by enthusiasts who want to play a certain game and share it, so there is no tech support. With emulators, you need to make allowances for that. But on the plus side, they are sometimes in open access or much cheaper than proper remasters.

Well, it's decided then Yakuza 0 is the best of all time. 😊

That reminded me of that bit from the Simpsons movie:

There is a "the best day" version of it there too, but I could not find that video. But you get the gist 😅

Ah well, it may be just as well. Who knows, if you try to read into the future games too much, you may get spoilers 😉
