I move from city to city, but so far within one general area. Before I used to move countries for work a lot, and that was different. Now I do not move as far but on the other hand, I have more stuff.

That depends on how you look at it and when you think the Andromeda began. Calendar-wise it is a bit murky, the initiative began in 2176, that's 7 years before the event of Mass Effect 1. The Nexus and 4 Arks depart for Andromeda in 2185, between the events of ME2 and ME3, so it sort of begins there, if not for the fact that they spent the next 634 years in a cryosleep on the way there, so Andromeda really begins in 2819.

That being said, I am not sure if they will make all that many Andromeda connections in a new game, Andromeda did not fly and Mass Effect 4 may have more connections to the trilogy rather than Andromeda.

In my experience, the book is always a better starting point. It is true that Witcher got world fame thanks to the good game, but I always thought that if there was a book before the game (the reverse too happens sometimes), then this is the best way to go.

Speaking of books, how is your reading going, with the move and all?

Moving countries sounds both exciting and a bit terrifying. If given the chance again, would you prefer frequently moving to new countries or settling down in a city of your choice?

I’ve just started an absolute behemoth of a book—Stormlight Archive Book 5. Around 1,800 pages 😆 Reading it at a snail's pace. How’s I, Inquisitor going? Things getting interesting?

@ZaidH Where I am from it is a good omen to, when you move to a new place, to let the cat enter it first, supposed to bring in good luck. Is there something like that in Saudi Arabia too?

Good question, I got to see many different interesting places when I was moving countries, but I could never make big purchases, even something as trivial as a good gaming chair was not possible, I was mostly travelling just with luggage. I guess I am not against settling down if I find a good city, but I have not yet.

Hey, at least there is no time travel there. Yet. 😅

To be fair, I never encountered a movie that would make me want to read the book that it was based on. I read books and wanted to see the films afterwards enough times, but it never worked the other way around, the movie being good or bad. Not sure how common that is.

Ah, so you finished The Light Fantastic then?

I read I, Inquisitor to the point where stories ended and the main cliffhanger began, but I currently can't understand if it was meant as an end or if there are books that continue the story. Have a bit of trouble finding that out, too, since the series is Polish, it is a bit tricky to navigate.

@DoctorEldritch That's such a sweet tradition/omen! It's not a thing here, but I'll try to spread it among my family and friends from now on. I entered the house with the cattos right by my side in their carriers, so here's hoping they get at least half the blessings towards their good health 😅

About the big purchases part, I really love the minimalistic approach that comes with moving often. The more stuff you have, the bigger the headache when relocating 😵 There's a certain charm in having all your belongings fit into just a few pieces of luggage. I'd love to be a small part of that lifestyle someday too.

Same here actually! The only time I wanted to read a book after watching the movie was for The Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Expanse series.

Nope, I haven’t had the chance to start The Light Fantastic yet 😔 I really wanted to avoid Stormlight spoilers, so I decided to read that first. Oh dang, maybe you could check the reading order on Goodreads if you haven’t already? They usually show something like "Book #1 from the blah blah series" there.

@ZaidH It is probably less stressful for cats to enter the new premises along with their owners/human servants rather than being made to go in on their own, even if that may not bring in as much luck.

Somehow I didn't want to read books even after those. With LoTR I read it before, and with Expanse I did not want to start a book series that big at the time.

I did, but the problem there is that the Inquisitor series seems to be split into 3 parts: the prequel books where the main character is young, the main body where he is in his prime and the plot is a series of self-contained stories with no mainstream plot, and the story that takes place after those small stories where there is a mainstream plot, if that part even exists, which is a bit unclear. And each of these 3 parts has its own order. In short, it seems to be a jumbled mess...

Ooof, I wish I, Inquisitor had a handy guide like the one you shared with me for the Discworld books. Are you planning to stick with the I, Inquisitor series or move on to a different book?

@ZaidH I like to keep things in pristine condition too, though I am not fanatic about it, like I would not cover a new chair in plastic covers so it would not scratch in use and retain resell value (like they showed in The Nanny):



I think I'll switch to another book, I still have some in the Thursday Next series I want to read and I am also looking into Caimh McDonnell's The Dublin Trilogy.

Some of my favourite books are from Neal Shusterman, with the Arc of a Scythe and Dry. I find them incredible.
When I was a bit younger, I loved the series "Cherub", a lot of action and you could identify more to the characters as they are the same as you !
Also one of my favorite book of fantasy called "The trilogy of the Eugord".

@Pepithrow I have not read any Neal Shusterman's books, I will give it a try, though dystopias are not really my genre.

But I loved the Cherub series as a kid and read all of them. Did you read the prequels/sequels too?

I googled but could not find "The trilogy of the Eugord", could you please tell who wrote it?
