    Hello Legion Gamers!

Tomorrow is the Mickey Mouse Day. Though rather than talking about possibly word's most famous rodent, and in the spirit of geek mont, I though it is a good idea to ask about Disney movies in general. Do you like any?

Personally, I have a more complicated relationship with Disney. I do not really like their work lately, and really do not get live adaptations of classic cartoons, either. But I will admit that I like the occasional song.

But that is as far as the studio itself is concerned, we need to remember that Disney is more than just Little Mermaid or Alladin, it is also Star Wars, Marvel and Pixar.

Pixar I like, and generally enjoy most of the movies that the studio makes. I like their style and message better than that of Disney itself. And was happy to learn about the upcoming Inside Out sequel:

Even if it reminded me of Big Mouth a bit 😅

Star Wars, I am conflicted about, too. I am in the "New Trilogy is Travesty" camp and really dislike how it was done. But I like most of the Mandoverse series. And both of these were possible thanks to Disney backing it up, so on balance it's ok.

Marvel, to me, has been stagnating a bit in the last several years, so I have not formed an opinion yet about whether Disney is good or bad for Marvel, to me Marvel is currently dealing with a different set of challenges.

But that's all just my opinion. What about you? Maybe we have some Frozen fans?

@DoctorEldritch I liked Frozen! The sequel was quite good in my opinion. But yes, recent Disney works can be hit and miss. Pixar generally makes solid stuff.

@Saka Frozen was good, I agree with you, but we need to remember that it was released 10 years ago now (man, that made me feel old 😅), and even the second part is 4 years old by now.

But really, to me, Disney's "masterpiece" ratio is quite low, I'd say only The Lion King and Pocahontas (first, not sequels) are really very good. The rest of them are always either too much (too childish, too moralist, too cliched), or not enough (not enough character development, not enough depth). But that's just my opinion, of course, and the masterpiece ratio is low almost everywhere, otherwise, the bar would be raised.

This is why Pixar is so impressive, their ratio is actually very high, I think. Most of their films (the latest Elemental notwithstanding) have a deeper layer to them.

@DoctorEldritch If you want something more recent, Encanto was nice too. I know, it's two years old now, but at least it's still more recent than Frozen. Not a masterpiece, but there were still quite a lot of nice nuances. Luisa was a great, supportive sister.

About a good sister story, Lilo and Stitch is a very underrated gem. I think it might belong on the masterpiece shelf.

I think they are making a live-action of it too for next year?
