    Hello Legion Gamers!

Today is video games day! A day for gamers of the world to reflect on their journey as gamers, recall their first and favourite games and appreciate this wonderful pastime. So why not spend a moment thinking about how games made your life better?

As we're in the middle of Food Month, I thought it would be a good opportunity to remember games centred around food and cooking. There are many simulators around of various quality, but I think some games are better at exploring food than others.

The one I want to put here is the recent Venba.

This is a very short (can be done in 1-2 hours) game based around Indian recipes, but like any good dish, it has more flavour underneath. Through the cooking simulator, it tells the story of a Tamilian Indian family of immigrants in Canada over a span of two decades and is an interesting combination of culinary insights and social commentary. And a very nice art style.

And that's just one of the nice little games from the indie scene like this one. After all, food is inspiring not only painters, sculptors and musicians, but now game developers, too. Do you know any other games about food?

Thinking about how games made my life better it was while growing up games gave some motivation to keep going on whenever it's really hard to even stand on my feet or when life fails me I learned not to lose hope and keep marching to my goals

Also gained some stratigical and critical thinking in plan execution sence I always made wrong and quickly pushed decisions without thinking about its reasons targets or consequences

A game centered around food I like very much is (good pizza great pizza) it's not only about food it teach how to handle and treat different types of people and their specific complicated requests

What about the game we are supposed to play in a games night soon, Overcooked 2? And its predecessor.

@Saka That is a good fit. Have you tried it yet?

And thank you for reminding me: there's been a small change of plans, and the game we will now be playing is Overwatch 2 instead! But they both have "over" in it 😅

We'll play Overcooked 2 some other time, but it definitely fits in here.

@DoctorEldritch Oh, that's a shame about the change of plans. I haven't tried the game yet, was waiting for the games night, but now that it has been postponed, I may start on it alone.

I have been fairly busy lately, not much time to start anything new. Trying not to die (ah, the joys of chronic pain), kendo, then writing and filming the interview... oh and I need to find time to harvest my potatoes before they rot, oops! I have university starting as well, the period is already ongoing, but my courses have a delayed start.

@Saka You can always try and vote for it for the 28th of September, see what happens!

Does not have to be new, can be something old, too. Overcooked 2 is not new, either. Though, given your current predicament, maybe something to do with potatoes?

From my side, here is one more recent game that I came to enjoy, very geeky in the best of ways, Dave the Diver:

The game is not too focused on the cooking aspect and has a lot more to offer, but a big part of it is focused on running a sushi restaurant.

@DoctorEldritch If the focus of the game itself doesn't need to be on the cooking, this reminded me of Final Fantasy XIV. Each profession there has some backstory, as you level the profession and do the related quests, you learn more of the story. The Culinarian profession is no exception in that. 😁

@Saka Are there good quests connected to it, or more of a usual "kill 100 slimes"?

@DoctorEldritch Actually proper quests and not much killing involved, usually there were some items to get, but you could just buy them off the auction house.
