    Hello Legion Gamers!

A couple of days ago Starfiled left Ealry Access for a full release. The next big game from Bethesda, it was well anticipated and split the fans, as is usually the way with Bethesda,

Metascore was particularly illustrative with an 87 site score versus a 5.4 user score (as of this message). Personally, I have not tried it yet. Bethesda games are notorious for having bugs for a while after the release (I shudder to remember Fallout 76), and as you may remember I do not play games until GOTY.

But that's me, and Bethesda releases are nothing if not interesting to unravel be it good or bad. So I want to ask you, has anyone tried Starfield yet?

My plate is as full as I like right now, but I am really not surprised about people leaving negative scores for bugs and performance issues. It has become too common to push the product out of the door with the intention of fixing it later (or never). It got bad enough that the release dates are becoming irrelevant for people without bleeding edge hardware, as they need to wait for the games to be patched up to be played smoothly. I remember when having just decent setup allowed you to enjoy games as they came out... I must be getting old then!

@Saka It's funny to think how the definition of feeling old evolves over time. Thinking that you knew a time when a decent setup was good for new games means that you're getting old is reasonable, but then, from a different perspective, there are those who remember when personal computers were a rarity and you could only play games in an arcade. Everyone has their own nostalgia depending on what they saw as kids, I guess...

And I agree, Bethesda is infamous for releasing games that need a lot of polishing...

@Alexia4bit Do you want to try it right away or wait for a sale or GOTY?

@DoctorEldritch I am not sure if the meaning of "feeling old" evolves. It's a rather personal thing, it means something different for everyone.

GOTY should be a good time to grab, hopefully by then the backlog would be smaller.

@Saka For me it evolves with age, when I was younger I would sometimes still get such feeling but about different things. Like when I had to explain to someone how to use the yellow game cartribe for console, remember those? Even if I had to explain what those were to someone my age, it did make me feel a bit old, even when I was actually quite young. Now more things are added to the pile that make me feel old, not just cartridges...

Now I suddenly got an urge to buy myself a sports car...

One can hope. Skyrim had that 10 years anniversary edition. I don't think I will wait that long, though. 😅

I never had the console, my family couldn't afford "useless electronics". So my early gaming experiences were just DOS games on the computer my dad got with a research grant. Only some of my friends had consoles and handhelds.

Oh, my spouse actually has a perfectly working GBC that is just missing a piece of plastic on the back. And possibly the internal battery may be a safety hazard. He was wondering about giving that thing an uplift, but then stuff was happening and he never got to it.

But hey, I don't think I am going to get too old for video games anytime soon!

@Saka Not the Pegasus, the Dendy. But close enough. I did not have it either, but my friends did. I never actually owned a console in my life, I started with a PC and stuck with it since.

Well, as they say, ageing is mandatory but maturity is optional. Though I dare say you can be mature and enjoy video games. I do not think I'll grow out of them either, they would have to pry my laptop out of cold dead hands when I am over 100. Better yet, I'll have one buried with me. You never know, those Pharaohs might have been onto something.
