    Hello Legion Gamers!

A bit of news on the game and animation front again. Just this week, Absolum was released. It is a roguelike beat-em-up game, check it out:

Reminiscent of the iconic Golden Axe a bit, and not surprising: the game is by Dotemu, and they are known for making the games that take back to the classics from the 90s. Of course, style is not everything, but the game is doing well, got good reviews from both journalists and regular gamers, and a high Stream score, so if it looks like something you'd want to try, chances are it will be worth it.

But that's not all. What is interesting in a different way is that, even before the game got released, Dotemu announced its collaboration with Supamonks to make an animated adaptation. According to Julien Bagnol-Roi, the head of Supamonks, they have been involved in the creation of Absolum from the very beginning and helped shape the game world and lore, so continuing to build on that in the form of the animated series will be a pleasant continuation of their work. I am hoping it will turn out better than what Dead Cells had.

It is an interesting trend lately, too: after Arcane and Edgerunners, developers seem to be increasingly aware of the benefits a multimedia approach can have, and start making games that are tied to animated series even on the concept design stage: the game was not even released, and the animation was already in the works. Who knows, maybe in the future, we'll see more and more of such micro-franchises? 🤔

A Golden Axe comparison! Been a while since I've thought of that game.

Might get Absolum sometime later when it drops in price. Looks like it might be nice fun for a short time.

@miskkie Hopefully we'll hear about it more in the upcoming months. I heard a rumour that they are working on a new game in the series, though I am not sure if it will be a remake or a new game entirely, and whether it will happen at all or not. But here is to hoping.

Same, though in my case, I think I'll wait until animation is out, probably give it a watch, and then see how I feel about it.
