    @DoctorEldritch Cucumber and Dandelion root are anti-swellings! But yeah, there was even more interesting facts than I knew in the game. I also know tumeric is anti-inflammatory (unfortunately it's really gross). The game does come with a lot of repetitions as well, so I think we will be quite knowledgable. Right now in early access there are 57 plants already. But in the full release there will be over 100! :o
    Oh, I didn't know about " suillus ", but my favorite mushrooms are like enoki and black ear; and since I believe they're native east asian they may not be in the game. But time will tell!

    @ChristianRasmussen true, Anthology edition has less of a discount, though the base game is at -90%. Seems to often be the case. Maybe it is a good offer for those who only want to try the game and see if they like it before investing in all that extra content?

    @Telomina I knew about cucumbers and dandelions, but mostly because they are more of a garden variety of plants, I don't think I've seen a wild cucumber. I have them in my garden,. though, and I mostly know about the medical and nutritional properties of the plants that grow there. Wild plants is another story, those I know little about.

    Actually, I do not mind turmeric; I use it in daikon pickling often. I got a taste for it during the time I was working in Myanmar , they use a lot of it in their cuisine. But it may also be that the turmeric there is different from the one we get in Europe, I remember theirs having richer but also more nuanced and pleasantly mild taste.

    Enoki and black ear are certainly tasty, but you can't forage them here 😥 I think the tastiest we can find in our area is the penny bun, have you tried those?

    @DoctorEldritch ah yeah, that's true! I wish I had planted cucumber this year, my chrysantemums i planted for the leaves for my hotpot didnt grow as big as I expected.

    Oh. Turmeric in pickled daikon, that sounds interesting. I just used plain pickled daikon that I did earlier this week. Like the korean side dish for fried chicken (my weekend plans).

    I havent seen that, neither out in the wilds nor in the store (I think, I dont normally get much more than the regular plain small white mushroom in the western stores. The prices are quite steep).

    But it looks like it would be nutritionally dense.

    @Telomina We plant chrysantemums mostly decoratively rather than to eat, but I don't think we had much luck with them this year either, it's not been a good year for harvest so far. Last year we had more cucumbers and tomatoes. Do you eat hotpot during summer with fresh leaves, or do you dry leaves for winter when hotpot is more fitting?

    Pickled daikon with turmeric is often used in Korean kimbap. Turmeric gives it a sweeter kick and a yellow colour:

    In store, you'd normally see it sliced and dried, it is one of those mushrooms that you can dehydrate and it retains much of its nutrients and taste. Then you need but to boil it for a bit to get some nice broth. But you'd not really see it fresh like you'd do with champignons or shiitake.

    aah yes, there are some different chrysanthemum. The one I plant is called Shungiku.

    Oh, so thats why it's yellow. I never learnt that. I wasn't very interested in learning to make kimbap since it's my least favorite Korean food (maybe besides the army stew...and the crickets). This is the type of Korean prepared daikon I prefer:

    This is quite plain and the same way my grandmother taught me to pickle cucumber. But in cucumber recently I like the added touch of Korean chilliflakes.

    I don't dry them, I just have the hotpot during the cooler summer days rather. Last year I did however freeze some chrysanthemum leaves and that brought the taste out still. But it looked pretty sad 😅

    Ooh, it's a dried type. I used some dried mushrooms my mom had picked in my hotpot base, mushrooms really do give a nice flavor like that.

    @Telomina Oh, those are the edible variety, I don't think we planted those. We have a lot of nasturtium, though, which looks nice and can be used in salads:

    I think they have some medicinal properties too, but in the same way as lemons, for example. As in, it is good to eat them for vitamins and general health, but they will not likely help you against a specific issue like inflammation. Though I could be wrong. If the game will have them, I could learn more.

    I think that brand daikon these days may sometimes use artificial food colouring instead, but traditionally, turmeric is where the yellow colour would come from. But what is wrong with kimbaps, like Japanese rolls, they are quite versatile and come in all sorts of different ingredient combos, I would think there should be a combo you'd like?

    Ah, I see. It is a good method, though personally, when I pickle, I try not to use vinegar unless I am planning to keep pickles for long. But I usually eat them right away, so I prefer to pickle them in brine. And I am bad with spicy foods, so I avoid chillies, even though I admit they can be tasty.

    Hmm, maybe drying will get you better results? I would imagine they would look sad, flower leaves often have too much water for freezing to work very well.

    You can use it fresh, too. We'd normally fry it, but you can pickle them too, they are delicious like that (and you can sometimes find pickled jars of them in shops). I meant it more in the sense that, for transportation and selling, they would often be processed, as opposed to some other mushrooms that are sold fresh.

    @DoctorEldritch True, but when you have the base game there is no real savings one of the big sales, like Summer or Winter (New Years sale).

    @ChristianRasmussen I am guessing it is for those who can't wait to try some games and just have got to have it now 😅

    Personally, I agree with you, it is best to wait for better discounts. More so in my case, as I only ever play Anthology/GOTY/Deluxe or whatever editions that have it all packed in. But not everyone thinks this way, and this discount may target them more than us. To each their own 😊

    That said, I'd still say that any discount, even not the best one, is better than none 😅
