    Hello Legion Monsters,

We all know that skill is key to winning any game. Your quick reflexes, your strategy, and your communication with your team... they're all crucial. But let's talk frankly about the silent player on your team, the one who can be the reason for your crushing victory or your frustrating loss: your rig.

Imagine being in the final moments of a crucial match, your opponent in front of you, and just one keystroke separating you from victory... and suddenly, a lag or FPS drop occurs. We've all been there. This is where powerful hardware makes a difference.

High Refresh Rate Monitor: This isn't just a luxury; it's your window to seeing your opponent before they see you. Those fractions of a second that a 144Hz monitor or higher gives you are the difference between life and death in competitive gaming.

Processor and Graphics Card (CPU/GPU): This is the brain and heart of your rig. They ensure smooth, lag-free gameplay, allowing you to focus 100% on your gameplay rather than worrying about your device's performance.

Peripherals: A precise mouse, a responsive mechanical keyboard, and a headset that allows you to clearly identify your enemy's movements... These aren't just accessories; they're an extension of your in-game senses.

Ultimately, skill sets you on the path to victory, but the right gear is what ensures you cross the finish line first.

Now, Legion community, share your thoughts:

What is the most important piece of hardware in your current rig that you can't live without?

What's your dream next upgrade for your system?

I'm somewhat particular about the mice I use. Wanted a wireless mouse for a long time but I was stuck on Logitech MX500 series mice for ages just because they felt the most natural and those are all wired.

I nice (expensive) GPU would be a dream upgrade. Won't ever buy one myself as I just can't justify spending as much as the current high end GPU's cost.

@miskkie I've been thinking of a new mouse myself, but I am in a bit of a bind with my hardware. I am using a laptop, and to help with my posture, it sits on one of those laptop stands, like this one:

It may be better for posture, but it means that my keyboard needs to fit below it between its legs, so I am somewhat limited by its size. I ended up going for an option of wireless keyboard+mouse combo so as not to have a web of wires below this thing.

But while they may win in convenience, they may lose in overall quality: none of those fancier gaming keyboards or bigger mice for me yet. I've been wanting to upgrade my setup for a while, probably during one of those Black Fridays. But I am on a fence about what to get next: a laptop again or a tower. I want to switch to a tower and top it off with a new keyboard, mouse and a screen (budget permitting, so not all at once 😅), but the tower is hard to travel with, I will not be able to take it out at all. A dilemma.

I hear you! Love me a desktop, but the portability of a laptop is just necessary sometimes.

At least your laptop stand is better than what I experimented on back in the day, cardboard boxes as a stand 😂

@miskkie Indeed, you can't really bring a tower-based gaming setup abroad with you. I visit family abroad regularly, and taking a tower there would be too much of a hassle, even if I would prefer to have a more professional setup.

Hey now, cardboards are green and sustaiable option, unlike my plastic stand 😉
