@DoctorEldritch I looked into the whole Morse code thing and asked around a little. We actually have farmers who still communicate with code. The farmers are part of commandos and they us it whem there's radio silence.

He surely did. Have you seen Brutal Legends are free for download and to keep as your own. They are doing this for a tribute to Ozzy.

Duke Nukem is more hilarious than Sam.

@DracoTarot This is interesting, I read that farmers in the mountains had a sophisticated whistle code, they could share news and opinions on harvest and weather even, from one mountain to another over quite vast distances using echoes. It was a long time ago, though. Farmers seem to know where it's at 😅

Oh, really? That is good to know, thank you, I did not know that. Do you have a link? I played it already, but I'd put it on the community for all to know, it is a good game, and a kind tribute gesture, too.

Serious Sam is too serious. Duke Nukem wins being whimsical 😉

@DoctorEldritch Theses days the only people who communicate with each other with whistles or whistling are criminals. The one who steals infrastructure do it often to warm each other.

I will post the link if I can find it. I saw the post on Facebook. I think it's available for download via Steam. 🙂

    Duke Nukem for ever 😃

@DracoTarot I'd say it is different, that's probably more of a signalling than communication. I don't imagine criminals could or would whistle to each other if they enjoyed the game last weekend, or how the weather is, or make small talk and share news like farmers of yore would. They probably only have a couple of agreed sounds, and that's it.

I see it on Steam, but it is not free. Maybe it was, and that is now over...

Full disclosure, I haven't played Duke Nukem either, even if he is for ever. Or forever?

@DoctorEldritch Yea! I couldn't find the link again. There's still articles about the free and forever download. Maybe it ended or available somewhere elsewhere for free.

Another Duke release would be awesome. Loved the game so much. 🙂

@DracoTarot Those articles may be outdated by now, too. With a free game, even a day-old article may report on a giveaway that is no longer taking place.

Hmm... Ok, well, it may not be a new Duke Nukem game, but while we're on the subject of nukes, here is something you may like instead: there is a non-commercial modification in the works called Fallout: Bakersfield, it merges the classic first Fallout and classic DOOM engine, and allows you to explore Necropolis:

As it is non-commercial fan-made, it may take some time to get to us, but it is nice that there are enthusiasts out there who want to make something like this.

@DoctorEldritch Maybe the free download was a one time thing on the specific day. Well, I do have my XBOX copy stored away and don't have to worry about downloading it on pc. 🙂

Awesomeness! The game looks great. The downside is like you said it will take time before a release date is announced.

@DracoTarot Probably, I mean, they paid the tribute to Ozzy, but now it is over. I played it before, so I was not too worried about getting it either. I just thought it would have been nice for others in the community to be able to get it for free if they wanted, while the offer lasted.

I think they are aiming for 2027.

@DoctorEldritch I would've been nice to share it with other in the community. We must keep an eye on Rocksmith. I think a whole Black Sabbath set of songs will be available for free soon to download. I will let you know if I spot something.

Two years ain't to bad. Hopefully they do not extend it on the last second of release.

@DracoTarot Hopefuly there will be other opportunities, and hopefully for more positive reasons. Free music is not the same as free games, but it would be good to know about it indeed. Please do give a shout if there is something 😊

That is true, more so considering that this is a fan passion project, not an official release. People work on them often when they are free and for free too.
