@DoctorEldritch that is true that it will make the PC more vulnerable to Windows but there are solutions... Two actually (without the Linux method obviously)
1- Microsoft is extending W10 support for 1 year in exchange of using a Microsoft account for Windows
2- you can upgrade to W11 even if the PC isn't officially compatible, at home we already have 3 not compatible PCs on W11 (do many ways to do it available on the internet / YouTube 😁)

    Slip of the hand? 🤨
@GoLLuM13 By "Microsoft account", do you mean the one that uses their email?

My gaming PC is custom-built, so I'll need to look into the specs to see if it falls into the upgradable category or not. I am not tech-savvy, though.

I wish they stopped supporting after Black Friday, that would probably make a lot of people buy new PCs right before Windows 10 would be decommissioned, interesting why they decided to do it a month before.

@DoctorEldritch OMG 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Ooops 🤣 Vulnerable to virus attacks not patched by Microsoft obviously even if sometimes .... anyway I digress 😜

By "Microsoft account" I mean an account that is into the Microsoft echo system (Xbox, Outlook.com/Hotmail/MSN ... etc) you can find the details of the Consumer Extended Security Updates >>here<<

As for the compatibility, on one of the PCs, I have an old CPU the Intel Core i5-4570 (it was released on Q2 2013 or 12 years ago)

The issue is the "absence" of the TPM 2.0 for security (is it that secure ? I have my doubts) so the workarounds are just making sure the installer doesn't verify the lack of the TPM 2.0, which means your device is probably compatible (unless it's an old pentium 👀) you got the idea

@GoLLuM13 That's an interesting slip for an AI era 😅

Ah well, I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. Though I don't like the idea of opening another account, if I am only going to use it for PC access, it should not be too bad.

Ah, so the main factors there are CPU and security, not much else? I'll need to check my version...

@DoctorEldritch Recent Windows 10 updates had a lot or errors and some programs does not work well alongside the new build.

For example my neighbour uses Coral Draw for his printing business and after the Win update Coral Draw refused to launch.

He also had issues with printer spooling and none of his designs wanted to print. I had to rollback the new update and everything worked after a fresh reboot.

In my case, Direct X stopped responding and some games won't load. I also had an issue with Chrome and EDGE. Some pages wouldn't load of I'll have the "Oops something went wrong" error.

After rolling back the update, the problems stopped.

I opt out of Auto Updates and disabled some of the features like networking, advertisements, autorun, cloud services and a few others within Windows.

@DracoTarot I don't think that ever happened to me, but then again, I do not use specialised software like that. I do not remember issues with games, though. Maybe I got lucky so far.

And soon Windows 10 will be a thing of the past, and no more updates 😉

@DoctorEldritch Maybe it depends on the service pack or update released for a specific country or it could also be linked to the hardware you run and your Laptop doesn't have issues with updates.

I will need to continue using Win 10 even if the updates stop. I do not have TPM 2.0 for security. 😂

Windows 11 does not want to install without it. I've heard there is a way around it with some tweaking here and there.

@DracoTarot There are some tweaks, @GoLLuM13 advised me about those last week (thank you @GoLLuM13), so I am looking into those workarounds now.

@DoctorEldritch I have decided to try it out for myself and hopefully the tweaks work.

I need to make some serious backup's first before going ahead with the installation process.

@DracoTarot well, there is still time, the upgrade is not due for a few months still, so no rush.
