@DoctorEldritch Welcome back! I'm having the inverse situation where I'm hosting some family folks, hence the late reply 😅 Apologies for that!

God I went into the video expecting some laughs, but never expected to get teary eyed over the doggo 😭 Love collabs like this! Now I want a Yakuza spin-off where Kiryu goes all John Wick after someone hurts his pet dog.

Btw speaking of Yakuza, did you see the reveal of Yakuza 0 Director's cut?

@ZaidH No need to apologize, family is important and should come first! 😉 Actually, I hosted my aunt too, I just took some time off to spend more time with her and show her around.

    No, not little Mame-chan!

I heard about Yakuza 0 Director's cut, but I thought it was Switch 2 exclusive?

@DoctorEldritch That's amazing 😄 The only downside to meeting loved ones is that time seems to move so damn fast when they are around 🥲

Nooo not the cutie pie Mame 😭 Assuming that Ichiban's Hawaii adventure doesn't take place too far into the future, it's safe to assume Mame is still alive and kicking 😁

I think Y0 Director's Cut is a timed exclusive. Apparently it comes with new cutscenes 😯 If it comes out on PC, are you gonna play the game again, or just watch the new stuff on YouTube?

@ZaidH That's true... But that makes us value time spent with them all the more.

He is, as far as I know. In TMWEHN he is still living in the orphanage (I have not played it yet, but it is on his wiki page). But he is at least 11 years old by then...

I am not sure, that depends on how much new content they will add, I guess. It may be enough to warrant a new playthrough (with Yakuza 0 it is easier, too, you do not need to remember what happened before), but if it's just a few here and there, then probably just go to YT.

@DoctorEldritch quickly Googles "shiba inu lifespan"

    12-15 Years

Oh ma lawd 😭😭😭 Poor guy basically has one foot in the grave now.

So according to SEGA, the game will have around 26 minutes of new cutscenes, so I guess YouTube it is then 😄

@ZaidH At least he lived a long, happy life on a sunny beach surrounded by kids. Besides, Yakuza dogs probably live longer anyway...

I am not sure, 26 minutes is a lot, when you think about it. A full sitcom episode. It may well be worth it to play it. Maybe after playing Infinite Wealth, though, for that sad nostalgia note of seeing Kiryu all old and grey-haired, and then going back to the time when he was a young disco king...sigh, time moves for us all...

@DoctorEldritch Now that warms my heart 🥲 A life well lived!

Oh god, I will most probably start playing LAD Gaiden soon, and man I'm definitely not looking forward to seeing old boi Kiryu in a souped up Dragon Engine 😭 The onion ninjas may arrive in full force if this man ever cries again. But yeah, I like your idea of revisiting young Kiryu and Nishiki's adventures after Infinite Wealth. Fingers are itching for more Kuze butt whopping.

@ZaidH Well, we got very limited insight into what was happening to him in the meantime. It could be that he got a special friend and later lots of pups, so his legacy may live on. I'd like to imagine that Mame is a distant relative of Mamezo from LAD: Ishin!

Gaiden is not the last we see of him, he does feature in Infinite Wealth, too. Still, I wish that, when they were thinking of the orphanage kids, they would include a kid who would grow up to be a yakuza member himself. I mean, this is what happened to Kiryu too; he was an orphan raised by Kazama and idealised him so much that he joined the Dojima Family. Now there is no more Tojo Clan, but it would be conceivable for one of the kids to have the same attitude and try to get involved in that...security firm that it became, thus giving rise to a new protagonist. I think it could have been symbolic this way, you know, with a full circle and inescapability of fate and all that. But oh well.

@DoctorEldritch I'm playing LAD Gaiden now, and man I'm keeping my eyes wide open for any Mame sighting. But yeah, it would've been great to see Haruto growing up with Mame Jr.

Unpopular opinion, but with the exception of Haruka, all the other Morning Glory kids are so underdeveloped and mostly serve as stepping stones to enhance Haruka and Kiryu's story. Even in Yakuza 3, they felt so one-dimensional. Seeing how these poor kids were tormented in like every Yakuza game, it totally makes sense for some of them to follow Kiryu's footsteps like you mentioned. Maybe even go the vigilante route and take down the Yakuza or something.

@ZaidH We can hope. Ichiban seems to have that pet lobster Nancy, though. Maybe he will have an episode where he'll get a dog of some sort, maybe. Could be related to Mame in some way.

That is true, though I think it stems more from the technical limitations rather than plot. Well, that, and also that the unspoken rule in games is that it is not possible to harm children (which is why there aren't any in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, for example). If they involved children deeper in the plot, they might end up involving them in risky Yakua business. But true, they could and probably should have been more developed. Though by the time they grow up, the Yakuza disbanded, so not sure how feasible the vigilante career could be.
