*disclaimer I am a Koei Tecmo Affiliate, but the demo is open to everyone.
So, I tried Atelier Yumia to all consoles, and then on my Lenovo Legion laptop, cranked up all settings and holy moly. The world came alive so much better than the other consoles!
A sun that's shining, you could almost feel the heat radiating. And all of the particles in the air became visible!
I took some screenshots I thought I'd add here as well.

First one is with the native 3200 x 2000 monitor. As you can see the game got a black boarder. I also connected the laptop to my capture card -> external monitor where I had 2k, but didn't feel like I lost any quality.

The screenshots have the logo to make a clear distinction which screenshots was which for my longer reddit post. I am not sponsored by Lenovo or so (# sadfaceemoji).

@Telomina It does look impressive, thank you for the post! So it is safe to say that immersion is quite high? A bit of heat is probably a good thing right now, the Spring is not in full swing yet 😉

As a side question, do you know if you need to play other Atelier games before this one, for continuity? Like Maria or Ryza? I know that in the "Tales of" series every new game is a separate story, but there are a few minor "overarching" characters, usually secret bosses, and sometimes main characters from earlier games make cameo appearances, but I do not know how Atelier series works in that regard.

In semi-related news, Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era has an open test now too, in case you want to check it out. Though, unlike Atelier Yumia, not everyone can get in 😢

I haven't heard of it. So far it does seem to be a good first Atelier game. Previously I had recommended the Atelier Marie. But this one seems quite different in battle style and how things work so far.

Immersion is quite high indeed so far. I am really excited about this game.

@TelominaGood to know that you can start with this game into the series, but do Atelier games have overarching characters that pop up in multiple games, or they are set in the same world, or something like that?

@DoctorEldritch a few do. Now I can share I have had early access, and I've yet to meet any old character at 32h in.

Then they did a special game that is basically only taking all of their characters and placing them in the same village.

@Telomina The village idea sounds interesting and somewhat unique as far as the "multiverse" approach to games is concerned. How did gamers react to that?

How far into the game is 32 hours, about 1/3? I remember in Tales of you'd meet characters from other games in the endgame content, after the main story, I think.

@DoctorEldritch i have no idea, but looks like I have uncovered 1/3 of the map.

Oooh, thats would be nice! I once tried another Atelier Game and then a character came in from the game before all "fully developed" and I kinda ruined it a bit for me since I owned the previous game as well. But its been so long I forgot which it was so now I can play them after Yumia instead.

@Telomina These days, I am not sure how accurate the "map indicator" is. In most Assassin's Creed games, you can open the whole map and gather all collectables before doing any story missions, almost right after the prologue. Ghost of Tsushima was ore paced in that regard, only allowing you to open the map bits after certain story thresholds.

I would imagine Atelier Yumia is a bit like AC: you can reveal 1/3 of the map, but there is a lot to do there still? Or did you mean that you completed 1/3 of the map?

Ah, so you're not playing Atelier games in order?

@DoctorEldritch I don't play long running video games in order when I discover them late. I start where I find them, and move forward. A few times I go back (like Final Fantasy 7,8 and 9 after my first was 10).

" I would imagine Atelier Yumia is a bit like AC: you can reveal 1/3 of the map, but there is a lot to do there still? Or did you mean that you completed 1/3 of the map?" Yes, it's like this!

@Telomina Ah, I see. This is a healthy attitude to have. I can't do that myself, I need all the games to be in order or I start feeling anxious, like I may have missed parts of the plot or easter eggs or somesuch. Which is why long franchises like FF or MGS are so hard for me to try.

Ah, that is good to know. It will be some time till I get to Yumia if I do, I thought to start with Marie as a showcase into the series. But it is good to know what to expect if I like it enough to continue into other games.
