    Hello everyone. @DoctorEldritch unknowingly (or witting?) have convinced me that I am in need of a tea kettle. It can be either electric or a regular one that go on a glass stove top. Whichever makes the least noise would be great.

    Now I do have some requirements myself. It needs to be under 40eur, preferably free shipping in/to Sweden. And turquoise-green or white in color (it of course need to match the rest of the kitchen). Any links, suggestions or even warnings about brands is appreciated.

    What tea kettles do you have?

    Hi there 😁
    I won't claim myself an expert, but I would easily recommend the brand "Bosch" I have the Bosch ComforLine TWK6A013 for years now, and I'm 100% satisfied. Unfortunately, this model is discontinued, but you can find its spiritual successor in the Bosch MyMoment TWK1M121 (in white). As for the price, the official price (in France) is 37.99

    @GoLLuM13 thank you! I do like the look of this design. Looks easy enough to clean. I have added it to my kettle-list. 😊

    @Telomina How important is the colour for you? I prefer my kettle to have less plastic elements, so mine is mostly glass, like this:

    So it has no colour as such, it is mostly transparent. But it glows blue inside when boiling water. I think there are green light options in other brands if you're after that particular colour. I can't recall how much it cost me, but it was under 40 euros, I think. There are a few glass kettle options out there these days, too.

    @DoctorEldritch Thank you for the recommendation.

    Less plastic for the sake of nature/production? I am working on replacing all lunch boxes for glass ones to not get (more) microplastic in the body, but that isn't an issue with regular kettles per se.

    But also, I imagine glass kettles being a bit harder to clean, how do you find that aspect?

    @Telomina It was partially for microplastic reasons, but mostly I just like glass as a material more. And it looks cooler, to me, at least 😋

    I'd say how hard it is to clean may depend on the quality of water. If it is not that good, then hearing element hets that whiteish cover. The good thing there is that, with these kettles, there is no heating element sticking out of the kettle's inner side. I mean this thing:

    Instead, this is hidden under the flat bottom, so the heating element is somewhat easier to clean because of that, you do not need to bother with all the curves. As for the inner walls, I never had any issues. Glass is famously resilient to dirt, and regular "steaming" helps. I give it a wipe every now and then, but it mostly remains clean with little effort.

    @DoctorEldritch Oh, I see!

    Oh, right. I remember those things now. My older sister would always boil water and not clean anything properly at my dad's house when visiting, so we got a bit frustrated and I remember that part making it more difficult to clean.

    Oh, I need to get myself a steamer cleaner too I think. I saw some instagram reels of cleaning with it, and I just want that level of clean perfection in my home.

    That's good if you have carpet covers in particular. I mean, it helps to have it regardless, but especially with textiles. And you can also use it as an alarm system and invent cool code phrases 😉

    @ramax Metal! I still like glass more, but it is better than plastic, I'd say. Though visually maybe I'll admit that it is prettier than mine, unless it is boiling water. It can be fun to watch the blue bubbles in a glass kettle form on the bottom, like a lava lamp...
