@DracoTarot If I had access to a time machine, I’d go straight back to the era you mentioned! 😁

To think Pong was the ultimate game ever to enjoy over holidays with family and to this day, it blows my mind. 😂

Wait, Pong was THAT popular!? I always thought it was a niche game enjoyed only by tech enthusiasts. Clearly, I underestimated the King Pong 😆 But man yeah, it must have been an amazing feeling to play it surrounded by loved ones. Nowadays, you practically have to tear people away from their phones just to get some game time (God I sound like an old man rn👴)

Ooof Space Invaders was really good, but Tetris was what I would describe as peak innovation. Like how did they even think of this concept!? Good times when hardware limitations led to so much creativity.

@ZaidH I would sacrifice anything to go back to that era. It was the most wonderful year of my life, not only gaming-wise but many other things made my life so much more fun. A time machine would be wonderful to have. 😊

Yeah! PONG was the ultimate game in our and many other households. I think the reason behind it was the competitive side of things. Well, at least where I come from it was.

I agree with you nowadays everyone in the household occupies themselves with their own things and cell phones are one of the main culprits. Family time has gone right out the window.

Most of my family aren't gamers and have no interest in joining or playing in a game or two. My nephews sometimes will play an FPS. They rage quit most of the time when I decided on a deathmatch and when wipe the floor with them.

It's always the mouse's fault or the key bindings do not work or I am cheating or and or and or.....😂

So yeah, loved ones act and are much different in this era which sucks. Each to their own I guess!

You don't sound like an old man. I am the old man around here, literally, and would imagine I sound worse. 😂

Tetris originates from Domino's and the original creator thought staking blocks on top of each other would be a much more fun concept rather than adding numbers you have to line up with each other. He took it a step further and added colour to the block and each block and colour added up to tally a final score.

An easy concept which took off and made history. I remember the first Tetris I had on my first ever PC, an XT with a monochrome screen and an astonishing 108 kb of RAM available on floppy disk and after installation, the game was only 18kb big. Those were the days. 😂

@DracoTarot The great era of hope and optimism 😄 I was unfortunately born at the tail end of it, and now all I know is anxiety and uncertainty 😆 On my side of the world Tekken was the game that brought families together. It was fun seeing most of the elders maining Heihachi 😅

They rage quit most of the time when I decided on a deathmatch and when wipe the floor with them.

At least they have a cool gaming uncle on their side 😁 They will definitely cherish the time spent with you when they grow up. And lmao no, you don’t sound old at all!

Oooh, thanks for sharing the origins of Tetris. It’s so intriguing. I recently read that playing Tetris is highly beneficial for mental health, so that’s another crown on its head.

Floppy disks, now that’s a blast from the past! 18KB sounds like a magical number now, especially to the Call of Duty devs 😂

@ZaidH It was certainly a great era. So many things changed over the years. In these past few years I have aged substantially with all the stresses and anxiety around us. I'm not that old but feels like I'm going to have to purchase a walking frame for myself on special somewhere just to menouver around. 🤣

I forgot all about Tekken. We also enjoyed Tekken alongside Mortal Kombat.

Don't know if you can recall a game called Killer Instinct from that era. Such an awesome game and I wish someone would do a remastered version. 🙂

They are already grown up and married. We LAN old games once in a while and now I'm the one who rage quit in a more subtle manner. 🤣

You're welcome. Yeah, it's quite interesting to know how developers thought about creating games and the ideas behind them.

Tetris may be in a way similar to chess for stimulating gray matter. Basically many puzzle games are designed for the specific reason. 🙂

I still have a floppy drive and a few disks stored away. I think I have Windows 3.1and DOS operating systems amd a few games like Leisure Suit Larry, Space Quest, Police Quest to name a few. 🙂

And... Apologies for my atrocious English. The autocorrect on my phone seems to fail me sometimes. 😶

Sega Genesis, it had a game more like a drawing app with Sonic stamps/stickers, I used to spend hours drawing on it

@DracoTarot Same, my dude, same. These post COVID years have been absolutely atrocious. But I gotta say, I’m genuinely grateful to have you guys around to talk to 😄 It helps drive away that bleakness bit by bit.

Bruh, Tekken had the whole country in a chokehold. Even Street Fighter wasn’t that popular. I got to know about Killer Instinct when it came out on Xbox One (now don’t ask me which confusing version of the Xbox consoles 😂)

Oh dang, well I guess raging a little bit is a quintessential part of the Xbox 360 days. You haven’t lived if someone didn’t curse your entire family in those COD lobbies 😆

I imagine there might be a few curious buyers who would like to get their hands on Leisure Suit Larry 😂 And dude, your English is perfect! Your writing style has such a fun tone to it 😄

@cyberven Is the game called "Art Alive"? I watched some vids of it and man my younger self would've enjoyed this quite a bit 😄
