    Hello Legion Gamers!

EGS is still having a Winter sale, and while DICE awards games, EGS meanwhile shared their statistics for 2024. If you like such inside data, take a peek:

A couple of interesting insights there: over one billion spent on PC games is impressive, and the total number of free games a year is an interesting number. I hope you manage to claim ll of these that you wanted 😉 And @GoLLuM13 you may be interested to know that Genshin Impact is among the top titles of 2024, thank you for your updates about its new characters! 😊 If you want to have a more detailed read, EGS shared the details here.

And this is not all, EGS also made a summary of the most anticipated games of 2025:

Some of these are well known and some are even already out. And some, like 33 Immortals, I have not even heard about yet, flew under my radar. How many of these are you waiting for?

Their user numbers are quite impressive. Shame to see the 3rd party revenue go down tho, it's great to have an alternative for Steam and would like to see it grow at least a bit.

@DoctorEldritch Happy to see Genshin Impact there, and I see another MiHoyo game, Honkai Star Rail is third (in the Mythic group), I also see Wuthering Waves in the Legendary group, and obviously Black Myth Wukong in the Epic group.

And this is where I see a contrast between these awards DICE, Game Awards and the alike, and the REAL players' choice, paid people choose Astro Bot as a winner, the people who pay to play choose Black Myth Wukong 👀

@miskkie statistics is interesting this way, you often need to look deeper to understand the causality, if there is one. If revenue drops, that does not necessarily mean that people buy fewer games, it could also be that people buy fewer high-priced games, being more selective or opting for cheaper games and waiting for sales and discounts I wish they would show us "spent during sales" numbers, that could give a clue... 🤔

@GoLLuM13 It's interesting, those are all good games, but I've been thinking about what game I really liked playing in 2024 (not just EGS, and just for myself) and I could not remember any. There were a few good ones, but nothing with Wow! factor. Maybe I am setting my standards too high...

Ah well, such is the laws of the market, and not just in games. Movies and series are often reported of a similar trend, and I don't know what else. But it may sometimes work in reverse, too. Avowed or LaD Pirates in Hawaii, for example, did not overly impress critics but were reasonably well received by the gamer community still. Curiouser and curiouser our world is getting...
