@Telomina And there is a scrapbook-themed game coming up, in case you like making those 😊

@Telomina That’s not too surprising, considering they’ve announced they’re working on Disco Elysium 2. The problem is, all the key figures at the studio, most notably Robert Kurvitz, the creator of Disco Elysium's world, have gone their separate ways. There’s a good chance none of them will be involved in DE2 😭

@DoctorEldritch Once a week sounds like a good upkeep.

Yeah, I don't. I moved so often for a decade, I've been slowly building up the things in my current- long term-apartment. But I have also tried to do a minimal of items, besides tech.

Is there perhaps a thread about practical tea-kettle anywhere around here? This place seems to have it all in terms of topics.

Dark satirical comics, depend on which one it is. "White Lotus" counts as that, right? It's a good series. I need to remember where I watched it so I can start watching season 3.

I have tried Distant Bloom, and finished it (in January this year)! I absolutely loved it, unfortunately it has quite a number of bugs, and I tried to get 100% achievements on steam for it (I try when it doesn't require too many hours and I really enjoy the gameplay and gameworld). But due to a bug I couldn't do that. I had asked for help in their discord, but it seemed unmonitored so I am surprised to hear that they are porting it to other platforms actually.

@DoctorEldritch Do you perhaps mean... Pito? I am already in love with that game, I played the demo yesterday :D Oh, now I saw the link was in there. Hmm, I am wondering if this one might be a bit too calm for me.

@Telomina Oh my. I move quite a bit too, and all my belongings can be packed into one van middle-sized van. But still, a kettle is a necessity for me. Though I do not think we have a thread for just for kettles just yet, this may be a bit too niche even for us 😅 You can start one 😉

White Lotus would count as one, I'd say. Though about that one, I am a bit on the fence about the genre terminology there, it is classified as black comedy-drama, but personally, I did not see as many comedy elements there to count it as comedy, it is more of a drama with elements of thriller for me. But that's just how I see it. I watched it, but more due to scientific interest as it aimed to show different exotic locations. ~I did not dislike it, but I thought it lacked in sharpness of execution, like themes and conflicts it was working with were toned down for some reason. At least that's the impression I got. But we'll see what the next season brings, and Thailand is arguably the most exotic location of the three seasons (at least for me).

Hmm, maybe they solved those bug issues and are now porting it? It would make sense if so, but if not, then it is odd... As for me, I have not tried it, and it looks good, but I am swamped with games I want to try first right now...

I have not heard about Pito, and can't even find a trailer for that. What game is that?

@DoctorEldritch I guess I am out of excuses now, haha. I have always just boiled water in a pot on a stove-top. Is there any scientific studies that kettle boiled water is better for tea (when the water in itself is safe), I can't help but wonder now.

Well, in that case I do like it. If anyone want to watch another one that also has hints of thriller-horror, I can recommend "the menu". It isn't one of my favorite movies, but it was an experience to watch for sure.

I really question if they could have solved all of those bugs and conducting proper testing in just a bit over a month's time. It was still a lovely cute game with nice game play parts. But I wouldn't recommend anyone to buy it on release day until there have been reviews sharing it's safe and bug-squashed.

Oh, I misremembered the name. Sorry about that, and no wonder why you couldn't find it. It is "Pilo", "Pilo and the Holobook" is a game being published by reddeergames. A publisher I just recently discovered with a cozy pot-puzzle game. So Pilo is about discovering items, adding them in a scrapbook. And there seems to be some planetary-mystery as well.

@Telomina Not that I am aware. I know there is a difference in what brewing pot you're using, like kyusu or çaydanlık or samovar, and there the material plays a part as well. But as far as actually boiling hot water, I don't think there is any difference in how you do it. Electric kettles may just be a tad more convenient because you do not need to keep an eye on them.

I watched The Menu, I liked it for the theme, but also partially because I like Ralph Fiennes, he was so good in The Grand Budapest Hotel...

I'd say not getting a game on the first-day release is generally good advice 😊 I very rarely do it myself, prefer to wait until GOTYs.

Ah, now I see. Did not know about that game, though the style reminded me a bit of LoLs Ruined King. I liked the pot-puzzle game art, though the puzzle mechanic may get a bit repetitive, I fear. It could be one of those games that are cosy to do a puzzle or two in the evening and then switch to something else, a "little break" game. The last one of these that I played was Doors: Paradox, though puzzle mechanics were a bit more varied there.

I am now officially stuck in the amazon (I know, it's bad, but accessible), kettle-swamp.

I like to get a game for release day, maybe just not buying it *laughs in sponsored games*

Ah yes, perhaps it would be better as such. I sometimes am so low on energy that those are the only games I can play in an evening. But I am also a believer in always having a game for whatever mood/energy level one is at. I might mostly play cute and wholesome games, but I am still a happy owner of Tekken 8. 🤭

@Telomina How is it going in that swamp, found any good candidates yet? 😊

Ah, not me, I like GOTY editions with everything included, all the DLCs and extra bells and whistles.

Games for mood make sense. Though the energy comment made me think, don't puzzles actually exhaust more than, for example, farming simulators or something else? When you're low on energy, what genre do you go to?

And on that note, do you play to "rest" as in, recuperate as R&R activity, or do you not get energy from gaming and after you play on "low energy" you do not feel refreshed?

I did find a candidate. After the "the metal isn't in the water", I started leaning more towards the glass ones. And I saw one from a "cheap" brand I trust, since I have a 20 year old mixer from that brand.

DLCs and extras can be really nice. But I am a bit bad at getting to it sometimes in big games where I already finished the main story, like AC: Valhallas Ragnarrok expansion, or the Burning shores from Horizon Forbidden Dawn.

@Telomina Oh, that's a nice choice, I like that you can remove the nozzle filter, some kettles do not allow that, so it is harder to clean. Did you decide on getting it in the end?

Yes, that's exactly it, I don't have the time to play through those just for the DLCs. Like Assassin's Creed Shadows is reportedly around 80 hours long, even if I liked playing the games that I played again (which I do not, with rare exceptions), I can't put in 80 hours again when the DLC is out just to play it. I'd rather wait.

    from Horizon Forbidden Dawn.
I think it was Forbidden West 😅
