    Hello Legion Gamers!

Yesterday I was a bit surprised to see that EGS is giving away Undying, with all the Lunar Calendar New Year being in full swing, that seemed a bit off-topic. Now I have a possible idea why: Dying Light, one of the main games about zombies, turned 10 years old:

Maybe EGS wanted to nod to that. And it does not end there: developers have four full weeks of celebratory events planned:

And they also revealed their plans for 2025:

And if you never played this game but are tempted now with all these new rewards and challenges, there is also a sale on Steam! @DracoTarot this is the successor game for the Dead Island we talked about recently 😉 So if you're a fan of zombies (and be sure to grab Undying if you are!), this may be of interest 🧟

Aren't these super scary? I could handle "Last of Us", but barely 😅I'd need to have someone else play it while I hide behind a blanket when it gets too much, lol.

@Telomina That depends, I'd say those two games are different in terms of how they try to frighten you. Last of Us I have not played yet (waiting for part 2 to make it to PC), but from what I gather, it is mostly narrative with a setting similar to Walking Dead? Most of the emotional and fear component comes from the narration and situations the game constructs for you? Please correct me if I got it wrong, I am still to play it and I was trying to avoid spoliers, so all I know about gameplay I got from glimpses here and there.

Dying Light I have played, And it is more...I want to say almost Orcs Must Die. There is a zombie horde and it can be overwhelming, but there is a level progression, and by the end of it you are faster and stronger than the average zombie, and you are the apex predator there. So fear there comes from the fact that these are zombies, graphically ugly and scary, and that you can sometimes be overwhelmed by hordes.

That is to say, they are both scary games, but how much exactly depends on what is scary to you. Personally, I think I'd be more afraid of scary things in Last of Us because they are scripted and designed to scare you.

Oh, I see. Well if Dying Light doesn't have an engaging story where you really hope for their survival I would probably be less frightened. But also have less incentive to play it, haha.

@Telomina I think people may play DL less for the story and more for the opportunity to slice through hordes of zombies in a spectacular fashion 😅 It can be frightening too when you are doing it at night with strong zombies around, but ultimately, the gameplay is dominating the narrative there.

As for the incentive, well, I played the first one because I got it on sale, but I have not played the second one yet, I for my fill so far, moved to other things. It may be enjoyable every once in a while, but you may get diminishing fun returns at some point, at least, this is how it was for me...
