    Hello Legion Gamers!

Last month was traditionally filled to the brim with all sorts of awards, summaries, nominations and ceremonies, a whole list of them. January has mostly been quiet, but yesterday, The New York Game Awards took place. Check them out:

The vibe is quite New York-ish, too, without the pomp and grandeur of last month's awards. For those with no time on their hands to watch the whole 2+ hours of it, here are the winners:

    • Game of the Year - Astro Bot
    • Best Indie Game - UFO 50
    • Best Mobile Game - Zenless Zone Zero
    • Best VR/AR game - Batman: Arkham Shadow
    • Best Game for Kids - Astro Bot
    • Best Scenario - Metaphor: ReFantazio
    • Best World - Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
    • Best Music - Astro Bot
    • Best Actor - Troy Baker for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
    • Best Remake - Silent Hill 2
    • Unexpected Hit - Mouthwashing
    • Best DLC - Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
Astro Bot won again, this game got most of the awards last year, no surprise there. And this award has a special DLC category, something others should introduce too. But really, no major surprises, except that Mouthwashing is indeed an unexpected hit. @DracoTarot you may want to take a look at that one, could be something you'd like.

And another unexpected thing is that the award winners do not have Black Myth: Wukong. @GoLLuM13 it may be that this game is not that popular in the Big Apple, I dunno. But hey, now all of us have a chance to see how our personal preferences compare to those of New Yorkers 😉 Do we think alike?

@DoctorEldritch I'll go check it out. I see Astro Bot also won an award for best music. A game with good mechanics, storyline and soundtrack is always worth the while.

@DracoTarot My problem with Astro Bot is that, good game though it is, it is only for PS5. I can't play it and see for myself how good it is 😥 Same with Zelda games.

@DoctorEldritch Well, then I have the same issue as you. I do not own a PS5 anymore and not planning to buy one anytime soon.

It sucks when certain titles are only available on specific platforms.

@DracoTarot Maybe they will make a PC version in a few years, like how they did with Horizon and others, for example. And the game may be cheaper by then, too...

@DoctorEldritch Maybe they will depending if the game is still popular by then or they could release a remastered version for PC.

@DracoTarot Popularity is not always the factor, sometimes some platforms just get exclusive rights. I mean, the Uncharted series is popular but still mostly unavailable on PC to this day...

@DoctorEldritch Those exclusive rights are the problem. It takes ages to get them.

@DracoTarot Indeed and I always wondered why it is so, why not make the process easier? Surely after some point the exclusivity of the game wears off and you can actually make more money. I mean, really, who would buy a PS3 today to play Uncharted: Drake's Fortune? Why not sort it out and port it like the two last games of the series? And speaking of those, who does that, why only port two last games to PC and not the whole series, do you eat desert before starter and main dish too? Come on...

@DoctorEldritch When things are made easier it becomes complicated for all the individuals involved who have dealings with the rights. Everyone needs a cut and when they delay the process it's an opportunity to milk companies even more.

Well, I see it this way: It's all about Marketing Manipulation and it deals with the tactics and strategies used by marketers that prey on human cognitive, social and memory-based biases ultimately influencing consumer behaviour in their favour.

They don't just want to port the games, they want to re-invent the games and in a sense keep them the same. The theme of remastering a game has become a trend and makes it difficult for some gamers to even run the games on their systems forcing a gamer to upgrade a PC or console.

They will also not shoot themselves in the foot to port a whole series. Releasing parts of a game is more profitable.

Sometimes I do eat dessert before everything else or eat everything all together. That's where platters come in. We make combo platters. The platter has pretty much everything on one big round silver tray.

Sweet, salty, sour, you name it. So basically it's dessert, starter and dinner all in one and up to you where to start. 😂

Most of the time I prefer my protein intake as we are used to and dessert will be last.
