    Hello Legion Gamers!

    The end of the year is a traditional time for all sorts of awards: there are so many nominations and prizes going around that it's easy to lose track. Which is why the Game of the Year Award Tracker is compiling every year a list of all GOTY awards given to games by all sorts of different media. Last year is still in progress, but it looks something like this:

    Looks like Astro Bot is in a huge lead, followed by Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Balatro (no surprise there). Black Myth: Wukong did not make it to top-3, but is right behind ( @GoLLuM13 not sure if this is something to be annoyed at or to celebrate 😅)

    So if you ever feel lost about which game got the most awards, here is an easy way to check!

    @DoctorEldritch it's a 50/50 between celebration and desolation 😜

    @GoLLuM13 Do they compliment each other and bring out their opposite's nuances (like wine and cheese would) or cancel each other out and end up in "meh", I wonder 😅

    @DoctorEldritch more on the "meh" side of the force, player's choice is with Black Myth Wukong, some of those so called "pros" are more on big name's side to serve an agenda (financial or political) unfortunately (obviously not all of them, some really like those games for what they are, and I respect that)

    @GoLLuM13 I am not sure if truly independent gaming media exists these days, though the same could be said about any media, I guess. Makes me remember that bit form Yes, minister:

    Maybe some YouTubers or podcasters can offer an agenda-less opinion, but even if so, it is often subjective. The best we can do is find some media or a person whose tastes align with our own and stick to them until it changes, I guess...

    @DoctorEldritch Video Games are art pieces, just like music and movies, so the choice and how we perceive them can only be subjective obviously, and I don't even question this side, I can totally understand that a person prefer let's say Astro Bot to Black Myth Wukong, but I also know that Black Myth Wukong was the "victim" of a wave of hatred by some medias (just like Hogwarts Legacy was)

    @GoLLuM13 Ah well, such is the blight of modern journalism and a sign of the times we live in, I guess...

    But we can take some comfort in knowing that Black Myth Wukongdid very well despite that, too. Sure, it could have done better, but ultimately, you can give me a great game and I guarantee I will find someone who hates it, and you can give me the worst game and I wager I'd be able to find someone who loves it. As you said, like with art, with games it comes down to personal taste.

    I do not take into account media opinion these days all that much. Only popular opinion like scores on popular platforms, and even that not every time.
