Hello Legion Gamers!

The year is coming to a close, and all sorts of awards, GOTY summaries and "Best/worst games" lists are popping up here and there.

Which can be illuminating for sure, for example, according to Metacritic, Utopia City is the worst game of 2024. I did not know such a game existed, but the trailer really does look bad 😅 And what is curious is that Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat (MOBILE), Jujutsu Kaisen: Cursed Clash (PS5) and Metal Slug Attack Reloaded (Switch) also made this list. Goes to show, that games part of an old and popular franchise or based on a popular anime may still end up very bad...

While such lists and indeed awards can be amusing and at times informative to watch (to discover games you may have missed), at the end of the day they are not personal, but rather media or corporate. And for many games are a personal hobby, and it could be interesting to reflect on a personal gamer journey throughout the year.

Luckily, now with advanced statistics, it is possible. Steam, PS and Xbox all offer some form of year review if you have accounts on their systems. For example, Steam can tell you how many achievements you earned throughout the year, the amount and names of the games you launched, genre and release year preferences and all sorts of other insights that may be interesting to reflect on as the year comes to a close.

To my regret, my statistics with Steam were nonexistent this year (I made use of GamePass a lot 😅), but @UnapologeticDino graciously shared some images with me:

Those of you who joined our GameTogethers will recognise that game! @j7schultz I think you will have it in your statistics too 😉 And maybe there is something unexpectedly interesting in there, too?
