    Hello Legion Gamers!

The Game Awards Ceremony 2024 has ended and got everyone excited with the Project Century reveal trailer:

Exciting stuff! But it also made me think that there are a couple of more upcoming games set in Japan and with interesting steampunk settings to boot that will also come out next year, and it could be nice to mention them so they would not slip through the cracks.

The first one is Shadow of the Road, a tactical RPG game set in magical-ish steampunk-ish feodal Japan. I mean, where else could a Ronin combat a giant steampunk scorpion?

By the way, @ZaidH this will take place a few decades after Rise of Ronin. Though while Rise of Ronin is more or less historically accurate, Shadow of the Road is seeded in fantasy elements.

And the second one is Steampunk Shinobi, more of a rogue-like game, with gameplay mechanics reminiscent of Rogue Legacy:

Levels are procedurally generated and each time you die, your descendants picks up the torch, and all in pixel-art-styled medical Japan (but also with steampunk 😉). Though this game may take a while to get here, the planned release may be sometime in 2026, and that's if all goes well.

Still, is it just me or does Japan have a bit of a game renaissance lately, being featured in more games the last few years than it was before, if you don't count the JRPGs?

@miskkie I don't think it's been spotlighted a lot yet, it is quite recent. Maybe their marketing will begin a bit later, but we can at least glimpse at it now already.
