When it comes to horror, do you like watching or playing?

@DoctorEldritch You don't even want to know the horrors in restaurant kitchens. I have first-hand experience seeing how filthy and degrading some of them are. My next-door neighbour is a HVAC technician and sometimes I go along with him if he needs a helping hand installing an aircon or two.

Recently we were at a family restaurant whose fridge had some issues. I have never seen such a bad kitchen in my life. Dirt and filth everywhere. The equipment is so outdated it looks like it comes from the Middle Ages. The food they prepare is sub-standard and not appetising at all.

I will never set foot in the restaurant again or eat there. Actually, I'm now totally avoiding restaurants and takeaways altogether. I guess all of them are not as bad but I feel sick thinking about it.

The first golden rule of dating is never, ever invite a potential partner to a restaurant on your first date. There's no need to wine and dine. Like you said there is a time and place for everything. If a person is interested they will have no issue with something small like a movie and a cheap bag of popcorn. If the person is not keen on the idea, make a hasty exit. The relationship won't take root in the future.

I also stopped watching Young Sheldon a few episodes in. The series does not have the edge I'm looking for.

Instead of rolling the dice, I could pull a few Tarot cards. 😂

@DracoTarot That reminded me of the scene from the 1970s British sitcom Fawlty Towers:

But hey, at least you can imagine what Gordon Ramsay would say if he ever went there.

Ah, well, I am more like this:

I hear it gets better with Young Sheldon, but I do not have the time or the will to check. Maybe it does, but there are better series out there now.

I guess you could, but Tarot is for reading the future, not deciding what you should do right now? As in, with dice, you can say "If it's over 3, then I will watch a movie, and if it's 3 or lower, I will go for a walk". Sort of like Two-Face when he decides if someone should live or die with that coin of his. I guess you could pull some Tarot cards out of a deck, but there are so many.

@DoctorEldritch Gordon Ramsey will go as far as to burn down the restaurant. I can imagine how he will use every cure word in existence.

When I'm really bored I will revisit Young Sheldon. If it gets better like you say, it might be worth the watch.

Thinking of it, throwing dice seems a better option. Tossing a coin is even a better one. With a coin, I can also do a little roleplay and imagine I'm two face. 😂

@DracoTarot I am not sure if Young Sheldon actually gets better, it's just what I hear. That being said, in my experience "just because I am bored" is not a god enough reason to give a series (or, indeed, a game, a film or anything else) a pass. Best to find something that would really interest and excite you. Secret Level is coming, Severance second season is coming, Arcane is over but they are making more. Hopefully, there will be better options than "just because I am bored".

You could do a Two-Face impression, sure. Just remember that you may find yourself in a pickle if you have more than two options. Dice gives you more flexibility.

@DoctorEldritch If there are other options available, they will be the first choice. These days, if I find something interesting to watch or do I still get bored after a few minutes.

I haven't found something that keeps me entertained and focused for a while now. It's like everything seems so repetitive.

I usually find myself in a pickle with making choices. I'm the kind of person id there are more options available I'll try them all out. One of them would eventually be the right one and things will work out. It can become an issue when I find myself in a predicament or danger.

@DracoTarot Ah, well, there is an idea crisis, true. But I am looking forward to Severance, that one is intriguing for me. How do you feel about the second season of Squid Game?

That may be an age-long issue. William Cowper once wrote

The idea that was later picked up by Francis Bacon

So lack of variety may indeed be the source of boredom, and seeking it is an attempt to conquer the ennui.

That's not a bad attitude to have unless you're playing D&D. Or trying to choose an ice cream favour 😉

@DoctorEldritch Haven't watched Squid Game either. I have seen it advertised but have never been interested.

Ice cream is a good example, and yes, it can be a huge issue to choose which flavour to try. That's why I always take one scoop of each on top of a cone or in a bowl. 😂

@DracoTarot To be honest, neither have I. Korean series, popular though they are these days, have never made it to my list, not sure why. Maybe, conversely to what you said, they are under-advertised except for singular big examples like Squid Game.

I like comedy, and it would be interesting to see cultural differences in that, but I have not heard of good examples of that yet (unlike classics from the Western world).

Sci-fi or fantasy too, I am sure there is something good out there, I just never heard of anything, so I need to do research specifically. And I do not have time (nor space in my list) for that yet. Maybe during Christmas, I'll look around to see what's out there...

"One scoop each" is a good solution if the vendor has up to 10 flavours. In bigger shops where you get 30+ options, you may end up with an impressive ice cream bowl extravaganza with a side order of indigestion 😅

@DoctorEldritch At this moment I am sticking with the list. I have many series and movies and no time to search for more. I want to watch all of them first before moving on.

😂😂😂. Obviously, I won't go overboard and ask for all the flavours at once. I'll choose my favourites if I can't decide which ones to get. We have shops here that do have mixed bowls but you are limited to three scoops. My favourites usually are Rum and Raisin, chocolate and vanilla. If I really have space for more then I will buy an extra bowl of Strawberries, Bubblegum and Peppermint Crisp.
