@DoctorEldritch I'm sure I will enjoy the series.

We as a family do not celebrate Christmas and moved away from the tradition. I think the last time we had a Christmas tree in our house was in the early 2000s. Don't get me started on all the Christmas movies that will be shown on the tv. Every year it's the same old stuff over and over.

I really can't wait any longer for Nosferatu. It's working on my nerves now. 😂

I think comedy movies and TV shows have become too repetitive, and the jokes and satire have become old. I will give A House on Fire a go and see how it is.

@DracoTarot Fargo is decent. Went a bit downhill with later seasons, but not too much.

We do not celebrate it in my family either, but it is still an excuse to have a family meal. As for the movies, the same old stuff is traditional at this point, there are those Christmas specials that have been around since the 60s. I meant more those Christmas films that we're flooded with every holiday season. Ted Lasso sums it up best:

Hmm, maybe watch 2020's Dracula with Claes Bang. The third (final) episode and ending I did not like, but the first episode is close enough to the original novel.

Possibly. But you can try and explore comedies from a bygone era of the 90s. The Nanny or something?

@DoctorEldritch It's with every series like that. Some good seasons and some not-so-good.

Our families aren't so close anymore. Things have changed drastically over the years. Most of our close family members aren't here anymore and moved away and others have passed. Usually, it's only me and my parents and we either indulge in a BBQ or buy already prepared foods from the Grocer.

Christmas movies will always be around I guess. The best is to change the channels or stream something better to watch.

I started watching Family Guy again and Futurama. Maybe Big Bang Theory is also an option. 😊

@DracoTarot True. Such is a circle of series life, I guess... That's why I like miniseries, they tend to finish the story before they drop in quality.

You and your parents are enough, I'd say. This is how I celebrate this time of the year too (plus my aunt). You do not need a big family gathering from all around. I meant it more so long as you are not celebrating it alone, which is also fine if that is your thing. But celebrating with more people can be advantageous because you get to try more different foods if everyone cooks. When I celebrate alone, I do not cook that many dishes since it's just me, but with others you get to be more creative and diverse in your choice of dishes. But that's me, I like holidays mainly as an excuse to eat a lot 😅

Some of them are good classics, though. Nightmare Before Christmas, Home Alone, Die Hard, you know...

I was never a Family Guy guy (pun not intended), not my kind of humour, but I like Futurama, even if the latest rebooted seasons are not as good as before (IMHO). Big Bang Theory is fine, but I liked it more at the start when it was a sitcom about geeks and nerds. Later when it turned into a romcom and then family comedy it lost some of its charm. I still liked it, but it was almost a different show from when it started.

Actually, I found something for you since we last spoke about it. Maybe look into a comedy called Bad Sisters:

You liked Mr Inbetween, chances are you may enjoy this one. They are in the middle of the second season at the moment.

@DoctorEldritch For us it's also about eating food we usually do not eat during the year so having family members and friends who can bring many types of dishes over to your house is a huge plus especially if there are leftovers you can eat for the rest of the week ahead and not worry about preparing additional food.

Unfortunately, the tradition ended. I'm not much of a people person these days either so my mum and dad and maybe someone else for company over the festive season is enough.

On the plus side, if you do not have to buy gifts or cater for many people, money is not an issue and if you have some to spend buying a bit more expensive food than usual is also a treat.

Family Guy's frequent use of offensive jokes and satire has led to controversy so many times and yeah it's not everyone's cup of tea. For some reason, I like TV shows and series that may offend and stir a little. 😂

I agree with you Futurama's latest reboot isn't great and I got bored watching it.

Sheldon will wholeheartedly agree with you. Jim Parsons said there is no chance for another Big Bang Theory airing soon and he is not interested in being Sheldon and won't renew his contract. He wants to move on from the romantic Hoo Haa.

Bad Sisters is waiting for me in a folder to watch. Oh, my word! I think I would need to jump between different series in December. I have so many to watch. 😆😅

@DracoTarot I never liked to celebrate with too many people, and I prefer to eat the food that was prepared in my kitchen and with my ingredients, even if other people do it. To make sure all is hygienic and sourced at the right places. Though that could be a thing that is local to me, at my home you need to make sure where you get your meat or fish from, for example, or you may not get the tastiest ones. You will not get poisoned or anything, it will just not taste as good as it could. So I prefer to cook and eat the food of family and people I know very well (and have seen them shop and cook). I am just fussy like that 😅

Hmm, I prefer South Par satire over Family Guy. Family Guy humour is like a sledgehammer, it lacks...nuances and elegance, to me. But I get why others may prefer it this way.

Well, never say never. Sheldon already voiced some for that Young Sheldon series and appeared in a cameo at the end there. What's stopping them from making the Old Sheldon series where some other actor plays him as an old man with grandkids and make Jim Parsons voice some again?

Ah, so you got them sisters already. But why jump, why not watch them one after the other in sequence?

@DoctorEldritch It's not about being fuzzy. I understand what you mean and share the same sentiments. I won't eat anything prepared by people who I have met before.

I don't know If you are the type of person who would go out of the way to sneak peek at someone's kitchen. I always use an excuse to go to the bathroom, even if I don't just want to catch a glimpse of the kitchen and pantry area.

If things look out of place, I will not accept any food or drink. I'm not fussy but full of Sh@t. 😂😅

With all the new viruses and things going around, I'm also cautious about food and have only a few places where I would buy.

Maybe he will do voiceovers but playing Sheldon's character won't happen. In any case, I feel another series won't be as popular.

I could watch the series in sequence but I want to finish the series I'm busy with instead of jumping from one to another.

@DracoTarot It just makes the food more appetising when you know who and how cooked it. Like a good spice.

I am actually the type of person who does not get invited to other people's houses, so I do not check out their kitchens 😅 In all seriousness, I do not like visiting the private spaces of others (or when they visit mine) and feel more comfortable to socialise on neutral territory like a park. And if eating needs to be involved, then a cafe or somesuch.

Not sure, I mean, Young Sheldon was so popular that they are making a spin-off about his brother now,
Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage. So who knows?

Wait, I am confused, I thought "jumping from one to another" was what you wanted to do? So I was asking why you would jump between them instead of finishing them one by one instead?

@DoctorEldritch Seeing food prepared by trusted hands makes it more appetising and trustworthy and I agree with you.

Me neither. If I do get invited I usually make up some excuse. I know it's a bit inconsiderate of me but usually, I have much better things to do and tastier food at my place which I would only share with my parents. 😂

I'm also not keen on private spaces and do the same as you. A restaurant is a good place to meet without invading each there space.

Young Sheldon was ok for me. I still prefer Big Bang Theory. Maybe the one about his brother will be worth watching.

Depending on the day, I confuse myself sometimes and don't know what I want to do. I am indecisive sometimes. 😂

What I meant I would rather finish watching the series I'm busy with without starting a new one.

@DracoTarot This is why I like those restaurants where you can see behind the glass how the food is cooked. Or Japan-styled sushi places. I do not mind the normal restaurants, though, but those where you can watch are very nice.

But I do not like to meet people in those, if you have to eat when socialising, hen something like a cafe I find better, with a beverage and something light. I really do not get dating culture that is focused on the restaurant, with all the chewing and slurping and gulping any hint of romance would go right out the window. There is a time and place for everything. An exception is made for foodie friends though, where some dishes are the main attraction and purpose of the gathering.

I tried Young Sheldon but did not like it all that much, so I only watched the first season. I hear it gets better, but I'm just not feeling it. BBT was good, but I like comedy with more social commentary to it, like Veep or Parks & Recreation or The Good Place. And I am waiting for the second season of Severance. Not a comedy, but social-commentary-wise, I liked that one a lot.

How about rolling a dice or tossing a coin?
