@DracoTarot I hope they will solve it. On the positive side, the end of the month is only 11 days away. Which is long when it comes to being without power, but could have been worse.

There is another series that I remembered thanks to our discussions with @DracoTarot, it is called The Orville:

It came by when they were bringing back Star Trek a few years back and is essentially a parody of Star Trek. Though it touches on some serious subjects too, it has more basic gags and is more of a parody/farce type of series, but if you like the space opera genre, it can be entertaining.

@DoctorEldritch they came up with the most ridiculous idea thinking it will solve the problems we have. It will never work in my opinion and if approved it will take another ten years before any changes are seen. The outages go on until the end of the month but there may be a week in between we will have capacity then it will start all over again.

@DracoTarot Ah, well, that's typical governing MO. Do people try to solve this by buying portable generators? Not sure if it would help, but is it a popular option?

Orville is entertaining enough, yeah. Speaking of, how many seasons did you watch? There's been 2, and the 3rd (and, it seems, final) is currently airing till the end of August, so if you liked it, you can keep that in mind for your list. Though I usually wait till all series is out before watching.

@DoctorEldritch I only watched season one so far. Haven't had a chance to come near a Telly for the past two months just to wind down a bit and watch an episode or two. Hectic times at the moment.

I have a whole list of movies and series to watch but time is a factor!!

Generators are an option and also solar. The thing is the supplier here has a tendency to become spitful and inconsiderate.

The most outrageous thing we have heard in the past two weeks is if we use generators we will be taxed. Emission taxes would be mandatory.

The most ridiculous one so far is if I was to convert my home into solar and go off-grid and not use their electricity I need to pay a penalty each month.

So basically I am paying a fine for using what was given to us to generate energy and sustain life...The Sun!!

The Sun seems to be owned by them too and is their property. Using the sun as the main source of generating electricity with solar panels, inverters and batteries will double the costs per month on our utility bill by adding penalty fees forcing us to live with the current issues and just look the other way.

@DracoTarot Ah, yes, time is always the factor. So much to play and watch and do, so little time to do so.

Then again, I'd like to think this is one of the reasons for us all being here: we can discuss together and advise each other so as not to spend time watching/playing something subpar. At least I'd hope so.

As for the taxes, well, this whole thing reminds me of a Cipollino story. In particular, that story was so popular back in the Soviet Union (as wiki confirms), that they made a whole cartoon out of it. And your comment about taxes reminds me of this bit here:

And that was ages before the Earl of Lemongrab from the Adventure Time, too.

@DoctorEldritch I'm very picky these days when it comes to watching and doing due to time. I get upset with myself for spending hours on something that was not worthwhile in the end.

This video is spot on. 😀

@DracoTarot I get what you mean. I myself am not really upset with myself but feel disappointed still. The last one I had was Horizon Zero Dawn. Not a bad game per se, but it was boring to me. I still finished it, but the strongest feeling I got was being annoyed at the missed opportunity for developers. It could have been a much better game.

This is also a reason why I usually wait for GOTY or similar editions, I want the game to have everything it has to offer from the start.

So I research quite a bit before making a decision to play and watch (which is ironic, in a way, since you still invest time doing that, to some degree). And I ask my friends and acquaintances for recommendations. So I hope some of our threads help.

Glad you liked the video. And it is interesting how current it is despite being quite old. Then again, as Benjamin Franklin said, "in this world, nothing is certain except death and taxes"

Here is one more entry to the series pile: the sitcom Veep:

This one makes fun of politicians. Think of it as "The Office" which is set in a White House. I liked how it looked with irony and satire on all those typical elements and strategies in the political arena.

And it's run its course now, after 7 seasons, so there is plenty to watch if you enjoy this type of satire mockumentaries.

@DoctorEldritch while Veep is satire I must confess all that I've seen so far comes so close to reality in this day and age 😂 or at least not far from it!!
