As it does every month, Playstation is "giving away" PS4 / PS5 games to subscribers in any of the 3 Playstation Plus tiers (Essential, Extra, Premium).

For this month of June, which starts on June 04, 2024, we will have :

    • SpongeBob Squarepants: The Cosmic Shake
    • AEW Fight Forever
    • Streets of Rage 4
To pick them up, go to their website >>here<< or directly to your console. Of course, as it is often the case with these subscriptions, the games are accessible as long as the subscription is active.

So you still have until June 04, 2024 to pick up May's games (EA Sports FC 24 Standard Edition, Ghostrunner 2, Tunic and Destiny 2: Lightfall).

@GoLLuM13 Aside from not having a PS, I would not play those games on a PC either, but that's me. Still, slim pickings this time around, I think. But maybe SpongeBob fans will be happy.

@DoctorEldritch I played street of rages 4, it was a gem, too bad it's kinda short though

@GoLLuM13 I thought it was a fighter game, but I looked at the videos after you said it, and it is actually more of a scroller? Maybe something I could like. Is it close to Metal Slug? I like Metal Slug.

It says that it is available on Windows, so I could actually try it. Does it have plot continuity though, as in, do you need to play the first 3 games to know who's who and what is going on?

@DoctorEldritch Not really like metal slug but more like a Final Fight and those games we used to find on Arcade (Metal Slug is more about weapons, tanks, planes...) while on this one you scroll but the weapons are more like katanas, water pipes ... etc

And no continuity issues, but for someone like me who played the previous ones on Sega Megadrive (Genesis) the nostalgia hit me hard 😁

@GoLLuM13 But weapons aside gameplay mechanic wise they would be close? Defeating enemies while the screen scrolls, but close and personal?

If there is no continuity then where does the nostalgia come from? Are there easter eggs?

@DoctorEldritch Streets of Rage 3 was released in 1994, while Streets of Rage 4 was release in 2020 and then you see characters you saw on one or more of the 3 previous game (either protagonists or antagonists) with a new design and some rearranged songs, and you start remembering your childhood 😜

As for the comparison between Streets of Rage and Metal Slug, it's close without being similar, for example on Metal Slug, you have jumps on platforms and stuff, while on Streets of Rage is a pure scroll either left to right and/or up to down (or down to up)

@GoLLuM13 It seems you can play Streets of Rage 3 on PC, at least, you can buy it on Steam. I could try it, but I will not get nostalgia, in my childhood that series passed me by. I get nostalgia from The Lost Vikings or Ducktales...

Ah, so it is more like Golden Axe?

@GoLLuM13 That's nice, I may get a bit of a nostalgia trip out of that if I am lucky.
