Hello Legion Gamers!

Today in our English community I came across the trailer for the upcoming Halo series season 2:

The Halo franchise completely passed me by, I never played any of those games, so the fact that there is a series based on them, and the second season of it, no less, flew under my radar and was a surprise.

But that got me thinking: the series these days are either completely original or based on books or games. Leaving the original ones aside, I found that I have a different attitude towards series based on books than those based on games.

In particular, if a series is based on a book, I am completely fine with watching it without having read the book first, the most recent example of a series like that that I watched is Silo. but when it comes to series based on games, I actually make it a point to play the game before watching: I did so with Dragon Age: Absolution or Arcane, and this is one of the reasons I have not watched The Last of Us series yet: I am waiting for both games to come out on PC and play them before doing that.

But back to the Halo series, I now have a problem: the series looks promising enough, but the franchise is big with many games, some of them quite dated now. I don't think I can (and, in all honesty, want) to play them all so I could watch the series. So I am facing a conundrum.

I wanted to ask, has anyone watched that Halo series yet? And those who did and also played the games maybe could tell if playing the games nad knowing the lore is important to enjoy the series, or is it not necessary?
