As a special treat after the #ITSGOTIME event in Milan, I was gifted these new AR glasses made by Lenovo.
Since I'm wearing glasses continuously and never found my way to use contact lenses, these glasses don't work out for me out of the box, but I gave my best effort to test and provide you with some first impressions about them!

What are these exactly? VR glasses but sunglasses? Help!

These are AR glasses, so technically sunglasses with monitors, cool right?
You can get full privacy when gaming, doing work, or such in public places(or lying down on your bed/sofa or so). Only you can see what is going on.

Legion Glasses are fitted with two 60hz MicroOLED monitors, which work on 1920x1080 resolution; by having OLED monitors will allow the sunglasses to be "functional" while they are not connected to any device(s) since the displays are pretty much "transparent."
Also, with OLED monitors you are saving your precious battery on the device since they are very power efficient!

The Legion Glasses is shipped with a "prescription lens" mount, which is perfect for me as an example so I can walk to my nearest optic store and request them to order custom lenses made for these glasses. Also, the box includes three different "nose piece" options which you can modify with emh. Raw power?

My pair of glasses did not have "blurriness" on the sides of the display like some Legion Glasses owners have complained and the image is super sharp, I enjoy the possibility of changing brightness "on the fly" from the glasses itself. This can be adjusted via physical buttons.

The biggest trouble for me (outside of lack of prescription lenses) was the weight, as expected there is a lot of weight in front of the glasses due to the monitors and tech itself. This is not exactly a problem if you are lying down and your head is "supported" by a pillow or such.

The display quality is very sharp and the sound quality of the speakers (yeah, seems like there are speakers built into the frame) was good enough when watching a documentary on sea mammals.

    Overall thoughts:

It's definitely a great "first" more gaming-focused AR glasses product from Lenovo, definitely, still, there are many things to improve for the next model (such as having an official prescription lens retailer and making the "case" a bit bigger so you can fit every accessory in there easily.)

I enjoyed the image quality and sharpness of OLED; I tested these glasses on Legion Go! and they worked perfectly out of the box. I will test these later on my laptop as well but I would expect similar results.

Special thanks to @j7schultz for the pictures!

@SKYTRiXSHA I hate that we (people with glasses) need to find ways to use things like this or even cinema 3d glasses lol

@SKYTRiXSHA How does the glasses compare to having a real monitor connected to Lenovo GO ?

As a glass user, how would you like to see the glasses modified so that they would work for you. Are you thinking clip on glasses or should the screen have a lens effect so it modify the output as if you where having 2 in 1 ?

Well, the glasses are alright when it comes to the resolution and refresh rate for more casual games; they are great when lying down. Kinda "cinematic" experience, I would say.

I would have wished the glasses would have an inbuilt way to adjust lenses so you could use them without getting prescription lenses. Legion Glasses come with a prescription lens mount so that you can take the mount to the store, and they should be able to attach lenses with your prescription in them.

Of course, we can always ask for more but the current solution is good enough. I'm waiting to see if these get more popular and if major VR Prescription lens manufacturers will hop on the wagon. Then I don't need to pay +100€ for pair of prescription lenses :D

Thanks god that I do not need glasses +100€ is a bit wild.

With the technology we have today, adjustable lenses should just be around the corner.

Some of the AR glasses already support this, but its expensive tech.
If these AR glasses hit "mainstream" like VR glasses have, then there will be providers who can craft lenses with prescription just for like 50-60$ which is pretty cheap ^^
