    Hello Legion Gamers!

As winter holidays are approaching, comes the time for reflection. And one of the best kinds of reflection is looking back on past celebrations and remembering all the nice, disappointing or whacky gifts you got (or gave!) over the years!

In my case, I have to admit that, as far as holidays are concerned, the gifts I received were mostly nice but not particularly memorable, like food or appliances or gift cards. But there was a time for my 14th birthday when I was given a big rocking chair (though I actually did want one back then). This may not be overly impressive, but this is probably the most unusual gift I ever got.

What about you, do you have a gift memory like that?

Or maybe a holiday gift meme? I put one above, but here is one more:

    Know any other good ones?

@DoctorEldritch The most memorable gift I got was a pair of limited edition New Rock boots. There were only a few made.

@DracoTarot Hey, the battery is still better than a card 😅 I always keep running out of those.

The shoes look awesome! Are they functional, as in, can you actually wear them comfortably? After all, shoes are one of those things you need to try and see if they fit. I do, at least. Or is is a collector's item and not meant to be worn at all?

I think the memorable thing I once got was Lebkuchen in a tin box. The box played the melody of Oh Tannenbaum after cranking the mechanism. I don't know what happened to the box, but I had it for a long time and enjoyed listening to its gentle tones.

@Saka Your story reminded me of the music box from an old Anastasia cartoon. The real version of it looks a bit like this:

@DoctorEldritch I guess it's the thought that counts. New Rock boots are the most comfortable footwear around and suit any occasion. They are a bit warm to wear in the summertime.

This specific pair can be seen as a collector's item. I think they only made a few of them. New Rock boots are handmade and expensive. Most of their boots are made from Ostrich leather and are very durable.

@DracoTarot They are definitely a head-turner, and any occasion is a plus. I'd wear those to weddings or Oscar awards. But I meant it more as. gifting shoes to someone is always risky because you need to be sure about the foot size, there is a margin for error there: too tight or too loose. So it is lucky that you can actually wear them comfortably.

I did not know Ostriches are the source of good leather, I thought they were more about the feathers. Are there many Ostrich leather things in SA?

@DoctorEldritch They are not the only pair I have. I have two more pairs. I dunno about the Oscars but wearing them to a wedding will be appropriate. 😀

I never had any issues with the size of the boots. I am a UK size nine and so far my shoes and boots fit well. New Rock boots also do not stretch. They keep their form and the soles last forever.

Sneaker on the other hand is a different story and I need to fit them before a purchase, especially the ones coming from China. They are usually a size smaller as shown.

    Here's another pair I own.

@DracoTarot Goth weddings are a thing, so sure they would. and you can wear all sorts of things to the Oscars these days, just ask Lady Gaga.

Maybe that's just me, it takes a lot of effort for me to find comfortable shoes because I always want them to feel "just right". Could be that you are luckily not as sensitive to the smallest deviations from comfortable size as me.

Those are spiky. Can you board a plane with them?

@DoctorEldritch Goth weddings seem to be a thing these days including fantasy-themed weddings.

Most of my Goth friends I know only had small weddings. They invited minimal people and the venues were nothing to get excited about.

What I meant was I wouldn't be seen dead at the Oscars. Too many of those "Occult" types of people are hanging around. 😂😆😀

I have a problem with clothing and am very picky about what I buy. I'll hope for hours looking for the right fit. I have issues with Denims and trousers. They must fit just right otherwise I'll go elsewhere to find a fitting pair.

I hop from one clothing store to another.

I'm not sure if I can board a plane with my spiky boots. Never tried before. They may be seen as a weapon of some sort. 😊
