It's on X-Twitter that we learn that after more than two decades, the E3 show is bidding us farewell. Just when we thought it would return soon and perhaps reinvent itself, it won't.

E3, for Electronic Entertainment Expo, was first held in 1995, 28 years ago, and was the high point for video game enthusiasts, initially reserved for professionals and the press before opening up to the general public. It was an opportunity to discover new games and machines to come. Gradually, however, publishers and manufacturers began to take distance from the show, notably by holding online conferences of their own, which enabled them to control their communications. Then came the Coronavirus period, which virtually ended the show, as it was cancelled in 2020, only to return very weakly in 2021 and be cancelled again in the years that followed (2022 and 2023).

As you can imagine, the lack of interest from the big names in doing their own show or going to Summer Game Fest, followed by the pandemic, meant that the show lost popularity and was less and less well attended.

Before we say goodbye to E3, let's share our favorite memories one last time, one of the ones that stood out for me (you can see me coming) was at E3 2016 with the trailer for the reboot of "God of War", which I'll let you discover below:

What do you think of this news? And don't hesitate to share with us a moment that stood out for you!

@GoLLuM13 I think it is always sad when such an important yearly event gets to an end, it is also surprising considering that the gaming sector keeps growing, I would like to understand the actual reasons of this!

@Sarkhan there's nothing official (yet), but it's easy to guess. When you lose the interest of names like Activision, EA, Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft. The main reason for this lack of interest was the participation fee for a stand (it's always about the money) and at the same time there were Covid and the arrival of the Summer Game Fest (hosted by Geoff Keighley, the same who does The Game Awards) at the same period of the year with a new "formula" the online announcements, companies have a scene with a known host, visibility on YouTube/Twitch under the same hat (#SummerGameFest ) and it costs less (money again) while you can control the narrative with pre-recorded videos, so no need to do a live show with all the issues it implies, no need to do a big and wonderful show with animations, statues ... etc that costs a leg and an arm.
That was just my opinion about the situation and what I know about it, maybe I'm wrong and there's something else, who knows right ? 😜
