@DoctorEldritch I hesitated between Cyberpunk and Genshin but I only played Genshin and even if I don't know what it's doing there, I'm not aware of any new major addition like with Cyberpunk, I still voted for it anyway 😜

and I agree with @Saka there are so many good things with Hogwarts and could have been nominated in so many other categories too, but here we are, and Baldur's Gate 3 will probably win in every or almost every category it's nominated in, including this Players' Voice category. While I'm not a fan of this kind of game, we have to admit it has been exemplary so far, and it has been since day one

@GoLLuM13 What's stopping you from playing Cyberpunk? You know my reasons, are you also waiting for the final edition, or just don't want to play that particular game?

Hogwarts has many good bits, that's true, maybe it's just a bit of bad luck for it to be in the same year as Baldur's Gate 3, which is almost flawless, as you said. Goes to say that in game awards, as everywhere else, it is not enough to be good, you must also be lucky enough not to be against a stronger opponent. But c'est la vie, as the saying goes. And we all are being entertained, too. 😉

@DoctorEldritch there is the fact that at first it wasn't that appealing to me, with all bugs, then I saw the 2.0 update which made me wanna play it, but I like to have everything at once when possible, and seeing the price, I think I'll just wait a little bit more for now, I have other things more urgent to buy first (and other games to finish) 😜

I think than more than just the luck, the boycott the game faced is playing against it, let's face it, not even a single nomination in any category, I'm not even talking about winning just being nominated, in either of these categories : Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, Best Art Direction, Best Score and Music, Best Audio Design and Best RPG. That's still hard to swallow 😂

@GoLLuM13 Oh yes, having everything at once and, preferably, cheaper, is the best. 😉

What other urgent buys are you planning?

Well, that's the rules of the show-biz these days: you need to have a spotless record to be included and something like a boycott can really damage your chances, as we can clearly see. But I guess, if anything, there is a lesson here for gamers too: do not boycott the game rashly. The way it all played out was rather awkward for everyone involved, I think. Oh well.

But hey, at least Steam let us make our own nominations, chances are Hogwarts can win something there?

@GoLLuM13 You might be onto something, the controversies around the game are still there. JKR is not helping, she constantly says or tweets more rubbish.

One of the Discord communities I am in has several LBGTQ members and mentions of the game are kinda frowned upon in there.

@Saka Controversies may be there, but it is unfortunate how what JKR does impacts the game so much even though she is not involved in it beyond the game being set in the universe she invented. The game itself, as you know, is actually rather inclusive (Sirona Ryan), though it may be that that character is a sort of response from developers to address that controversy in itself, maybe partially. I think it is important to separate the views of JKR and the views of many other people who are now working on and with the Wizarding World setting.

I don't think it's the place to talk about that, so I'll be brief, but there were a lot of cancel culture around JKR and by extension this game, and it harmed the game a lot. People should learn a thing, the person and the piece are two different entities, and they should separate both, you can agree or not with what JKR think and does, that's a thing. But even if you don't like what she said, the piece either the book, the movie or the game is something different and not related.
For example a singer or a football player, some of them might be execrable human beings, that doesn't mean they're bad on what they do (singing or playing football) and we can appreciate this side, without liking their "personal" side

@GoLLuM13 True, there may be other places better suited for this kind of complex debate. And you're right, it is not just about JKR. Sinatra was in with mafia in his time and was friends with some mobsters, but I still like him even now. He did things his way. 😉

Though JKR is probably the most famous example now where a game was impacted by the whole thing.

Still, as gamers, better for us not to dwell on such matters and focus instead on the game's positive sides, like the music that @Saka mentioned.

I forgot to answer, that would be a mouse and maybe a keyboard if the mouse is from a different brand (preferably both wireless, but it won't be a big deal for the keyboard I guess)
my mouse randomly does the double click even if it's rare it's annoying when it happens and one of the buttons (to release or tighten the mouse wheel feel) is now hard to click (I guess the spring is worn out or something like that)
my left shift key broke yesterday while playing Genshin 😅 (a leg of the keycap broke) I replaced it with another key (screen lock) that I don't use. And I hope to receive a new keycap soon from AliExpress 👀 (around January or February) but I haven't found one written in French (out of stock everywhere 😅) so I ordered one in English from a UK layout that is compatible and to be honest I didn't want to spend at 30 or 50+€ on a whole set of keycaps (even in French) when I only need 1

@GoLLuM13 Oh my, when you game, you game. So much so no button can handle your onslaught, be it mouse or keyboard. 😅

Good luck replacing them! Hopefully, it does not disrupt your gaming and work to muck in the meantime.

Somehow it reminded me of that film called Cloud Atlas and how some seemingly random things may affect history. If in a thousand years, your country would be part of the New British Empire, history books may say that it all began with a single key. 😅
