    Hello Legion Gamers!

Last Friday, we were playing our Halloween GameTogether. Which was awesome, by the way, check out the picture of @Inyeon surrounded by Screamfaces:

But as we were doing it, another awesome thing happened: the Alan Wake 2 was released!

It's been over 10 years since the first Alan Wake game, so we really had to wait for a long time for the next chapter of his misadventures. @Sarkhan shared the preview impression and minimal requirements already, you can check them out here!

As for me, the thing I am most excited about in this is that with Alan Wake 2, Remedy takes another step in their plan to create a unified Remedy Connected Universe, and I am very interested to see how they do it. Creating universes like that is a widespread practice in cinema (Marvel being the most obvious one), but in the gaming world, such ambition is not yet that common.

For those of you not familiar with the Remedy plans, Remedy Entertainment is creating the Remedy Connected Universe where standalone video games will belong to a larger fictional universe and share elements of lore, characters, and story. Creative director Sami Järvi, better known by his artist name Sam Lake, describes it like this:

The idea that the tales told in some of our games would be connected to each other, a connected world of stories and events with shared characters and lore. Each game is a stand-alone experience, but each game is also a doorway into a larger universe with exciting opportunities for crossover events."

They started it with the Control game where Alan Wake had a cameo and pushed it further with Alan Wake 2, and maybe they will find a way to include more of their iconic characters like Max Payne in the shared universe in the future, and I for one am excited to follow how they will be doing that.

But for now, I am happy Alan Wake 2 is here, though I think I need to replay Control before playing it. What about you, will you play Alan Wake 2?

I haven't played the first one(s) and they all look good, but I saw on Twitter/X that Alan Wake 2 is being boycotted (in France at least) because there isn't any physical copy of the game on consoles, only digital copies through the stores (PS Store / Microsoft Store) and it's not cheap either. I'm curious to see the final selling results, will it be like Hogwarts Legacy that was boycotted and got pretty good results ? 👀

@GoLLuM13 It would be interesting to compare, as they are being boycotted because of very different reasons. But personally, I try to stay out of gaming politics like that, if the game is good, I just want to play it regardless of whose universe it is based in or what copies of it are available. I guess we'll see how common this approach is. 🤔

@DoctorEldritch If I play I'll play it on PC, and we don't have any kind of choice on this platform, but I admit that on console, if there isn't a physical copy I just don't buy it, stores tend to close on console, and you might not have access to the game in the future

@GoLLuM13 Oh, I did not know that. The plight of a console owner is not familiar to me, I'm afraid. Though I heard that devs spent most of their efforts optimizing for console at the expense of PC, so it may be a good idea not to play it right away but rather to wait for a patch or two.

@Sarkhan Ah yes, @GoLLuM13 mentioned that it was coming out soon. I got more than my fill of CoD when I was working for Activision before, so I am good. But you have fun!

@DoctorEldritch indeed, whichever platform we play on, avoid playing it on day one, patches will come soon enough, sometimes there is even new modes and new stuff
