Hello Legion Gamers!

Last year, 2 very different and yet similar games. The first one was the Ghostwire: Tokyo:

And later, just before the end of the year, Blacktail came out:

While these games have a different vibe, they have surprisingly many similarities as well:

  • They are both shooters in a semi-open world where magic abilities are used as weapons.
  • They both rely heavily on local folklore (Urban Japanese in the case of GW:T and Eastern Europe Slavic for BT).
  • The protagonists of both games have an unseen companion (in GW:T protagonist is possessed by an actual exorcist who died while in BT protagonist hears a mysterious voice)
  • Both games have a main villain with a malicious plan.
  • Both games have platformer elements and abilities that help the player traverse faster.
  • In both games, the protagonist is trying to find and save their sister.
  • Both games feature cats that help the protagonist in various ways.
These are the ones I could think of on the spot, there may be more. Of course, there are plenty of differences too, like how GW:T operates with more myths and BT more with tales, or how GW:T is closer to horror than BT is, or how GW:T got a DLC and BT did not, but still, I think so many similarities are curious.

So I thought I'd ask if anyone else played either or both of these games and how you like them? And which is the favourite of the two for those lucky enough to have played both?
