    @DoctorEldritch RIP expensive suit!

    I must say, in kendo you see this too that people confuse genuine strength with raw force. When in actual duel, I could just use someone else's hard strikes against them by executing counter techniques. There's particularly one that redirects the momentum from the opponent's strike. Hah, yes, give me that burst of energy, thankyou~

    Oh no, looks awesome, but sadly it's this Thurday, and I'll be unavailable. It's Fresher's Party and I'm a tutor! I gotta lead our group of movie villains, the Death Eaters from Harry Potter as a Voldemort!

    @Saka I want to say most martial arts techniques have something like that in one form or the other, though it is interesting how it works with kendo where swords are involved as opposed to hand-to-hand.

    @Liue Maybe next time then. Why did you select Harry Potter out of all possible options?

    @DoctorEldritch I am aware of that, the same name for is used in aikido and judo for their techniques that have the same concept. It's just funny how some people don't realise that the sword is not some soulless stick. Jokes on them, maybe I should pick up fighting with a literal stick. Jodo is quite interesting, unfortunately it is even less popular and there isn't any association within a humane distance.

    @Saka I had a friend who was practising judo, she used to tell me that it is fun to do, but a bit hard to keep your weight exactly right, according to her, judo relies on your weight for some techniques, so you have to be "heavy but not fat" and it is hard to maintain that. But that's just one source.

    @DoctorEldritch In kendo the mass is not a big advantage, height makes things easier. But a skilled smaller person can also make things very hard for the tall guy. There's this 2+ meter tall guy and he gets fairly frustrated when I keep coming inside his cutting distance, there's not much he can do from there.

    @Saka That reminded me of a bit from one of Phule's Company books. I could not find the exact quote, but there is a character in that series called Super Gnat on account of her being very short. At one time, she participated in a martial arts tournament (I can't remember if kendo of arnis), and her opponent's inner monologue was something like "When she breathes out, there is no striking zone at all."

    @Liue Their day indeed, and it is a joy to see. I just find it interesting that, out of all they could have chosen to be, they landed on Death Eaters.
