@Saka My parents are fans of it, they like to make it with tomatoes from our garden, and a particular type of olive oil from a specific oil maker in Tuscany. But the bread they usually buy, not bake themselves.

Me, I am more neutral about it. It's tasty, but I can never eat it without dropping the tomatoes 😅

Bus so long as we're on the subject of quick snacks like this, how about Baleadas?

@DoctorEldritch Looks like a nice simple dish.

How about some Banoffee pie for the dessert?

There are too many on the letter B I'll just do 3 😜
We'll start with Brik or Burek it is ishe North African version of borek, a stuffed filo pastry which is commonly deep-fried. It can be shaped differently, it can look like a rectangular brick, a triangle or a cigar. The stuffing can be different from a region to another, it can be chicken, turkey, fish, cheese, egg, a mix of all and/or other things

There's also the Berkukes which is a traditional dish prepared with pasta in the shape of large grains of couscous, seasonal vegetables and meat. Berkuke grains are made from durum wheat semolina, possibly mixed with flour in some regions, and rolled by hand in a large dish

And we'll finish with Baklava which is a layered pastry dessert made of filo pastry, filled with chopped nuts, and sweetened with syrup or honey. It was one of the most popular sweet pastries of Ottoman cuisine.

@Saka I love banoffee pie, my only complaint about it is that it does not keep very well. Cream and bananas spoil easily even in the fridge, so you need to eat it fast. Which can be a bit of a problem when you live alone, when I buy it, I need to eat a lot of it in a fairly short amount of time.
@GoLLuM13 I like burek and dishes like it but always need to make sure they have the right amount of oil. It is easy to have too much or too little of it there, at least, to me (same with samosas and other similar dishes). Berkukes I have not tried. Bahlava I know, of course, but I think it is one of those dishes now that has become so widespread, you actually need to know a place that makes "traditional baklava the right way". I do not know a place like that, but I have tried it several times.

And we're on to letter C! I thought to mix it up with seafood now, so here is Cazuela de Mariscos from Colombia!

@DoctorEldritch Ew, seafood. Really not my cup of tea.

I'd rather stick with some croissants and coffee.

In some countries it's common to see croissants used for making savoury sandwiches.

@Saka I love seafood, but to each his/her own. Not even the pickled or smoked kind that North is famous for?

We need to thank France for croissants. But that is not the only letter C dessert it can boast. We must not forget Creme brulee:

@Alexia4bit Moroccan Tajin looks delicious, though it starts with the letter T, we'll get to it in a couple of weeks! We only started this week, we're on letter C now.

But Morocco has it's own famous letter C dish, Couscous:

Another dish starting with the letter C is curry! It's a hearty dish that is also very quick and easy to prepare, especially if you make the paste earlier and store in a jar (or use a store-bought one, they can be fine).
