@DoctorEldritch I had the helmet on, so it would be harder for them to cause harm.

Hm, I don't play a hunter in WoW so I only have non-combat pets. Usually I pick one of the cats to follow me around.

@DoctorEldritch Some clients also refer to their familiar or spirit animal as a companion or Guardian Angel.

Personally, I always saw those as separate concepts. Familiar is a friend and a helper in the magic profession, but is not part of you per see, while the spirit animal is more of a representation of yourself taken animal form, the animal characteristics of which best align with yours. And Guardian Angel is more of a theological concept and tied to the name of the person: each name has an assigned guardian that's looking after the people of who have that name. Then again, this is all the purview of metaphysics and can be approached in a multitude of ways, and I am by no means claiming that my view is accurate.

But it does bring up an interesting question about a spirit animal and what it could be. @Saka recently made a mascot for the Legion community and if that were to be used as a guiding principle, then our spirit animal could be a wolf. 🐺

If you do not know what your familiar could be, maybe you have ideas about a spirit animal you may have?

@DoctorEldritch Your views are accurate and I agree with you. It's sometimes hard to convince people otherwise. People tend to perceive things differently. We choose to select different aspects of a message or object to focus our attention based on what interests us, what is familiar to us, or what we consider important.

@DracoTarot I think that sometimes it can be a simpler matter of using less accurate terminology to describe the concept. Some people may say "familiar" and mean more "spirit animal" and vice versa, maybe.

The owl looks beautiful, though a bit too crimson for me. But looks very metal.

@DoctorEldritch People usually struggle with terminology. At least I understand what they are referring to when asking for a reading.

I took this photo a while back. The owl was nesting in our backyard near my window. I edited the photo a bit and made a poster.

Here is another little creature wandering about in my garden.

@DracoTarot That's rare, I heard that owls tend to avoid human habitats, but maybe they behave differently in SA. And it is impressive that you made a poster out of it, too. Spider...first, I want to ask, is it poisonous?

@DoctorEldritch We noticed the owl sitting on our roof, we thought she was resting and would be gone in the morning. To our surprise, she made herself at home in a palm tree. She keeps to herself during the day and in the evening she would venture out searching for food.

It's been 4 months and she's still here.

She doesn't seem bothered by us at all. I welcome her spirit in our environment and it seems she's comfortable with ours.

They say if you encounter an owl, it's best to ask your angels, guides, or higher self what message is being sent to you.

I'm patiently waiting for the message to be shared. 😊

@DoctorEldritch It's a golden orb spider. These large spiders are well known in South Africa for their magnificent golden webs. The webs are huge, often spanning a large area between bushes. The web is strong, and we have seen small birds trapped in the web. The female spiders are large, and the web often contains multiple spiders. The Golden orbs usually have black legs and a yellow-to-white abdomen. They are harmless to humans and pets.

@DracoTarot Maybe you'll get extra lucky and will have little owlets joining you sometime soon as well. 🦉

Does she pay you for the lodging with pest control services?

Owls are generally a symbol of wisdom, thanks to some degree to Athena and Minerva, though in some superstitions whether or not it is lucky to see one may depend on the time of day and the message changes that way. Though if an owl made a home near you, that may mean a different thing altogether, I only read about the meaning behind a casual encounter. After all...

@DoctorEldritch I haven't seen other owls yet nesting with her. She's a bit of a loner just like me and that's why I associate. Don't think there will be owlets soon.

She helps a lot with the rodents. We have fever mice and rats wondering about.

I am happy she chose our yard as a sanctuary. It makes me feel appreciated. There are so many other yards that are more beautiful and surreal in our area she could have chosen and she didn't.

For me, it proves no matter how beautiful things may look on the outside true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.
