    Hello Legion Gamers!

Today is International Cat Day! Thank you @j7schultz for sharing Rita today! Cat memes and pictures are always welcome irrespective of whether it is Cat Day or not, so I thought that on this occasion, it could be fun to remember games featuring cats.

The first prize in this category will perhaps go to the famous Stray:

But cats are rarely the main characters. There are some good examples out there where they are featured as NPCs in cute and amusing ways. Kitten chefs of Monster Hunter come to mind:

Would you eat food prepared by cats? That's taking the "cat cafe" concept to the next level.

But my personal favourite cat NPCs are Salt & Pepper Cat Pirates from Potionomics. Not only are they a perfect mix of mischievous and cute (in a very cat-like fashion), but they also have awesome theme music:

Unfortunately, could not find a video without a voice-over, but there is not much talking here, at least. I wonder if developers recorded some real cats or if those are all artificial meaws...

Those are my 3 picks for cats in games and games with cats. Maybe you know more? If you do, they can also make a nice Hi-Fi Rush game competition entry (hint hint)!

Obviously, the first game I think of is Stray, but if I think harder there is Mario 3D World where we saw for the first time the Mario Cat transformation

There were also the Nintendogs + cats where we can pet dogs and cats on 3DS

And there is a platformer game called Bubsy with a lynx as a main character (what is a lynx if not a big cat that can eat us alive ? 😜) but let's just not talk about Bubsy 3D which is one of the worst games

    We went from this :

    To this :

And to be honest, thank God images don't have the sound 👀

@GoLLuM13 Thank you for these! I remember reading somewhere that it is funny how Mario tried so many jobs like doctor, racer, chef, teacher, composer, fireman, and with this, even a cat, and the only job he was never seen actually doing in video games is actual plumbing.

The rest are quite nostalgic. Though I think Sims 4 captured the whole "petting" theme a bit better than Nintendogs + cats, but that's just my opinion.

@DoctorEldritch I haven't tried petting on Sims 4, but you're probably right, the way I see Nintendogs + Cats is like an evolved version of the tamagotchi

And I just remembered a game I used to play on Amstrad CPC when I was a kid, "Head over Heels" an action-adventure with an isometric view where we had to unite Head (the dog) and Heels (the cat)

@GoLLuM13 ah, blast from the past. I remember tamagotchi, though I never got one myself. But they were popular when I was in primary school. Nowadays I guess there are apps for that sort of thing, and separate device just for digital pet moved to the realm of enthusiasts.

As for Head over Heels, that gives me classic Tapper vibes for some reason. How long ago was that?

@DoctorEldritch Head over Heels was released in 1987, but I think I started playing it in 1991 or 1992

@GoLLuM13 Then you started playing early, lucky you. I started playing PC when I was 7 or 8.

@DoctorEldritch indeed I started at around 3 and half or 4 but let's be honest I couldn't start a game if my brother or my uncle launched it because of the commands to type in the terminal 😁, nowadays, we just need a double click on an icon 😜 we don't realize how lucky we are 😁
