@DoctorEldritch I also noticed the download size. It's over 122 gigs for the game. OMW!! I don't think I'll manage to get it soon. It's almost my whole internet cap for the month. I, unfortunately, don't have uncapped.

@DracoTarot Indeed, that is another aspect to consider. Some people may not even have that much space available on their main drive when you take into account the SDD needs...

@DracoTarot Depends on the developer, I guess. Some of them don't (cough-Fallout 76-cough), but I think that Baldur's Gate guys will. Although, if they are not working on anything now, and considering it took them 7 years to make the game (good game though it turned out to be), I think DLC will be at least a couple of years wait. Is it worth the wait... I did avoid Cyberpunk 2077 and am looking forward to playing it when DLC comes up, same with Witcher, so it is not my first rodeo and I can wait, but then again, people keep saying how this game is so good... Decisions, decisions...

@DoctorEldritch My solid state is only 256 gigs. Most of my space has been used on the drive. I do have three terabyte HDDs in my pc extra. Space isn't really an issue at the moment. Data is my only hurdle.

@DracoTarot Sadly, Google's Loon idea went bust, but maybe in the future, someone else will come up with a way to provide stable internet in rural areas. Elon may come up with something, though after the whole Twitter thing, I would be cautious.

@DoctorEldritch Cyberpunk 2077 seems like a great game and I always wanted to play it but for some reason, the game keeps on crashing on my system. I may have had a dodgy download or it has something to do with my GPU.

@DoctorEldritch Starlink is already available in SA and it works well. The problem is our government does not want to legalise Starlink here. They have an issue with Elon. According to our government, Elon had to start his companies in SA and not abroad. They feel betrayed by his decisions.

Starlink cost 3 times more in SA than overseas meaning not everyone is able to have it, especially in rural areas where there are many poor communities. At the moment I know of one company that imports the dishes and routers.

@DracoTarot How many times have you tried running it? I've been told it had a lot of bugs post-launch and many patches, but after a month or two after the initial release, it was more playable. If you were unlucky enough to try running it during that "patchwork galore" period, a crashing system could have happened. But now it may work better, more so after that DLC comes out in a few months, it may work better for you?

That's one of the issues with Starlink, it's subject to legislation and it being a satellite network means you need stronger dishes to be able to use it. This is why I liked Google's Loon idea with bloons instead. That way, at least, when something breaks down, you do not need to send a rocket into space to fix it. And balloons are not high enough to need strong dishes, too. It's unfortunate that Google could not find a way to make them cost-effective in the end.

@DoctorEldritch I've tried running it a few times and had "RUNTIME ERRORS". Some DLL files were missing. I then deleted the game and reinstalled but the GPU still had issues with it.

I will download the game and try it again or wait for the DLC,s.

The dishes for Starlink seem fine and people who have tested it so far got up to 800mbps download and 500 upload speeds. I think our government doesn't want to approve Starlink due to other networks that may lose customers.

@DracoTarot I'd wait for the DLC if I were you. Cyberpunk 2077 will only have one, but devs claim it is the biggest one they've ever done (and they made Blood and Wine for Witcher 3), and it is coming out at the end of September, so just over a month from now. Not long to wait.

How does Starlink work with all the blackouts, though? Dishes need the power to function. And it is like this in many places, when I lived in Germany, I had to pay for a TV license even though I had no TV at all because that's just how it works, TV companies pushed that regulation as people are increasingly migrating towards the streams.

@DoctorEldritch I'll wait for the DLCs then. Loadshedding would be a problem and yes Starlink won't work well. The only option would be to have battery backups. It's the same here with TV licences.

Even if I do not own a TV I still need to purchase a yearly licence. The laws changed in SA about two years back. The new laws state when you want to purchase a TV, monitor for a computer or cellphone you must first show your TV licence before the purchase can be finalized. If a shop asks for a TV licence and you do not have one, you need to buy one.

Customs also have the right to stop any electronics coming in from abroad that has broadcasting capabilities. Before they release a product they normally ask for a TV licence.

If caught without a TV licence I may end up with a hefty fine or even face jail time. Each year the main broadcaster sends us a bill. If I do not pay or skip a payment they add a 25% per month penalty fee on the total amount. They may go as far as sending an inspector to your home and confiscate your TV set or anything you would be able to broadcast or stream on.

I can't buy an XBOX or Playstation without a valid TV licence. The prejudice keeps on getting worse here.
