Hello Legion Gamers!

Today is the 1st of August, which means Spider-Man Day is here! The famous New York wallcrawler is a bit of a veteran and over 60 now, he was created by Stan Lee (naturally!) and Steve Dikto in 1962. and while the exact date of his debut is debated from June 5th to August 10th, all agreed to celebrate the Day of Spider-Man on the 1st of August as a compromise.

The way to celebrate it is intuitive and easy: the classic way is to read some comic books dedicated to this character. and if comics are not your thing, watching films works too!

And there are many to choose from: you can go for the classic original trilogy with Tobey Maguire:

Or the Amazing duology with Andrew Garfield:

Or the latest trilogy with Tom Holland. This one is tied into the Avengers movies, with the last film in the trilogy kicking it up a notch by not only being a part of the whole Marvel multiverse but also connecting it to the Spidey-verse by having guests from almost every other Spider-Man movie. Way to close the loop, it's easter eggs galore!

It worked so well, in fact, that now there are rumours of the plans to finish and release the 70% complete fourth Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movie that was never completed back in the 2000s. I wonder if they will have to digitally make Tobey younger...

And if live-action is not your thing, there is always Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse with its impressive artwork and Miles Morales as a protagonist:

But we're gamers, so for us, Spider-Man probably really comes alive when we can try his suit ourselves. And Spider-Man got his video game quite early, the first game about him dates back to 1982 (I was not even born yet, yikes!). Since then, there have been many games, but to my shame, I have not played any of them except for the latest ones by Insomniac Games, the first one of which is Marvel's Spider-Man:

That's the one we talked about during the last GameTogether, @j7schultz and @Inyeon! And like @Inyeon said I enjoyed it quite a bit, I just finished it this weekend. So now to commemorate Spider-Man Day I started the Miles Morales one:

Looks like fun, so look forward to playing it for the next couple of weeks or so. And as a teaser, have a glimpse of Spider-Man 2:

The only sad thing is that, like the previous games, it will be a PS5 exclusive for some time so there will be a bit of a wait for PC gamers like me to be able to play it.

With so many comics and films and games, it is clear the web-shooting arachnid from Queens crawled into the hearts of millions of fans. Are you one of them, do you have a favourite Spider-Man film or game?
