@DoctorEldritch I read it the second way at least. I have no idea what the birds did to him though to deserve such animosity. Shat on his Tesla's windshield as he was driving?

My city is full of these large aquatic pterrors that keep sitting on top of the street lights watching cars passing by and from time to time adding some ahem, decor.

@Saka that could be related to some childhood trauma, maybe? @DracoTarot once shared that Elon comes from South Africa, maybe there are some aggressive birds there that traumatised poor Elon when he was but a wee lad. You got any birds like that around, @DracoTarot?

That, or he watched a lot of Hitchcock as a child...

@DoctorEldritch My sister as a kid had a pigeon poop into the only ice cream my parents were able to afford for her when on vacation in Italy many years ago. She developed ornitophobia from that event, but I think she still wouldn't wish them extinction, especially that birds are very useful in the nature.

@Saka Then I guess your sister would not be willing to try any urumiit? Goes to show it is a matter of perspective and in Greenland bird doing that would make ice cream more appealing, maybe...

Birds can be mischievous, but I generally like them, even if they can be troublesome at times.

@DoctorEldritch I believe that would be a hard pass for her, yes.

@Saka Truth be told, I probably would not try it either. I am trying to try more exotic foods on a "nastiness" spectrum like fried larvae or crickets sometimes, but urumiit is a step too far for me too.

@DoctorEldritch I must say I am quite traditional when it comes to food. A friend of mine gifted me umami wine gums that he got in Japan. I must say, they're proving quite... difficult for me.

@DoctorEldritch Yes we do have some horrible birds here. One of those birds is a Hadida. They have the most annoying calls.

Not to mention they poop everywhere and when they do it's horrible. They like to make a whole lot of noise in the mornings when we are still sleeping and fight on our rooftops with each other.

Here is an example of how they communicate with each other. You can imagine if there are quite a few of them sitting on a roof and the noise they make.

@DracoTarot I can actually understand it quite well. We used to live in a house close to seagull nesting grounds before, we would get a lot of birds like this around:

This is a herring gull. They also have a voice:

But it was louder near us, the microphone in the video does not really pick up the sound in all its magnitude (good thing, too). We would wake up at 5 am every morning when they were performing their mating rituals.

They do not defecate all that much, though, at least we were spared. But they do so closer to where they live. We have since moved to a different house on a different part of the seashore, and we do not get them anymore. And while I generally like birds and gulls can be quite graceful in flight, I say good riddance.

@DoctorEldritch Strangely enough we also have Seaguls here and we are nowhere near the ocean. We also do not have a lake or dam close by. The Seagulls like to hang out at the airport and shopping centre. It happens quite often when people exit the shopping centre with food in their hands, the Seagulls swoop down and grab the food from their unsuspected victims. They would go for literally anything even toys.
