    Hello Legion Gamers!

The Spring is almost over but as a last hurrah, yesterday brought us a plentiful harvest with not one, not two, but four anticipated game releases all coming out at once!

Of course, the most anticipated releases are yet to come with Gollum joining in tomorrow (if we're lucky) and SHODAN coming online just before Summer, but still, May the 23rd turned out to be a bountiful day! And there is something for everyone as After Us, Convergence, Boltgun, and Miasma Chronicles make their debut, so let's look at them a bit closer!

    After Us

This is a stylish story-driven platformer (or so it claims). Style is reminiscent of Control somewhat, I think, but the story and moral are different, and it seems with a more social commentary vibe. If you like 3-D platformers and stylish surreal vistas, may be worth a look.

    Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun

This is a retro-style shooter set in the grim dark future of the 41st millennium, where there is only war. You get to purge demons and heretics for the glory of the Emperor! A treat for those who miss old-school shooters like Doom, and for the Warhammer 40K fans, too. Do we have any?

CONVERGENCE: A League of Legends Story™

This is a League of Legends-based Metroidvania 2D platformer. After Ruined King, League of Legends continues to experiment with making games in other genres. It is encouraging that Ruined King was, on the whole, a success, so chances are Convergence will be, too. An option for LoL fans and for Metroidvania lovers. With SilkSong being delayed again, at least we have this opinion now.

    Miasma Chronicles

A turn-based tactic. This is not the first turn-based rodeo for The Bearded Ladies (game developer), 5 years ago they made a turn-based tactic called Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden (and it's DLC Seed of Evil) which was relatively well received. But while Mutant Year Zero was based on a tabletop game and had a lot of lore behind it, Miasma Chronicles seems to be based on their own sorry, so it will be interesting to see what they come up with. As a fan of turn-based tactics myself, the only question I have is: are they planning any DLCs I should wait for, or is it good to start playing now?

To wrap things up, I thought it would be interesting to have a little poll to see which one of these four is the most popular one. So my question to you is, which one would you want to play most, if any?

The truth is that the last few weeks I've been watching a lot of Miasma Chronicles, I think it's a game that I'll play, I have some to finish but as soon as I can I'll try to buy it on Steam because I think I might like it.

@Inyeon I imagine it is a good option for fans of turn-based games if you count yourself as one. I like them myself. Have you tried Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden? That could give you an idea of what Miasma Chronicles could be like, same studio and all.

    @DoctorEldritch

I didn't play it and I really regret it, although I always have time to do it. I love this type of tactical strategy games. It's not an XCOM like Miasma Chronicles but I've played games like Teamfight Tactics, an autobattle game where positioning on the board and character placement is essential.

    It's definitely on my wishlist.

@Inyeon it is interesting that you use the word "regret" and feel this strongly. When I read it, I thought about it in self-reflection, and I think I never actually felt this particular emotion if I didn't play some game. I would feel it, I think if the game disappeared and I missed the chance to play it and can't do that anymore ever, but it does not really happen with games (as opposed to some limited edition products, for example), or if someone spoiled the game plot for me.

But if the game is there and on the wishlist and I know I will get to it eventually, I'd say I feel mild anticipation at most. Why do you feel regret?

As for the games, I have not tried Teamfight Tactics, but it seems to be online and free, I wonder if it can be used for one of the GameTogether nights? But as of now, it is difficult for me to say how close it is to more classic turn-based tactics.

I played many traditional ones, like XCOM that you mentioned, I liked that, though the second part more than the first. And I only play games after all DLCs come out, so I had to wait for a long time to play Phoenix Point, now it's on my wishlist, but I haven't got to playing it yet (anticipation, yey). Fantasy-wise The Dungeon Of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet Of Chaos is not bad, though it is translated, so jokes do not always land well.

But I am a fan of the Warhammer 40K universe (which made me excited about Boltgun and yesterday's Livestream) so currently (right now) I am playing Mechanicus:

Been on my wishlist for a while, but this wave of Warhammer 40K news made me bump it up.

I mean, I regret not playing it when it came out, I can still play it, but let's try Miasma Chronicles first, and then if I like it, I'll close the loop and play Mutant Year Zero.

I wanted to try Warhammer but there are so many games that I feel a bit overwhelmed, I don't know where to start, but it looks fun.

@Inyeon Ah, I see. My philosophy is in reverse, I only play games after all DLCs and patches are out, but your approach is valid. I wonder if Miasma Chronicles will have any DLCs...

As for Warhammer and Warhammer 40K (I am mostly into the latter, though), true, there are many games now. I'd say the good approach (for me, at least) would be to pick a genre you want to play first before looking into games. As you said, there are so many games now, to the point where you can find a game in the genre you're most in the mood for now, be it RTS, turn-based tactics, shooter, or even flight simulator. So what genre do you want to play would be my first question.
