@Saka Oh I agree, I did not mean to say that there being stuff in the list from different categories is a bad thing, I just found it interesting how they combined them. And yes, depression and anxiety are things that need to be worked through as well. This actually reminded me of a recent stop-animation movie we mentioned in Star Wars Visions thread, Mary and Max. It is not a game but touches on Aspergers in an interesting way.

The second list is also interesting, but I find it a bit subjective, as it should be, I guess, where the music is concerned. It is such a personal subject. Though some of their choices are certainly relaxing, but it makes me wonder, would relaxing music or music you like most help you more if you're experiencing anxiety, for example?

I remember our topic about cheer-up tunes from last year, and how different they are for each of us. And it goes further than that, one may think that @DracoTarot and @galadrielmt and @GoLLuM13 may enjoy Metal music to relax, and yours truly prefers Jazz. It's different for everyone. Though the tunes in the list, in combination with games, can help to relax, too.

@DoctorEldritch For me the music I want to listen to definitely depends on my mood. If I am feeling stressed or anxious I prefer some gentle piano tunes.

Then on a different day the gentle piano suddenly phases into heavy metal.

@Saka Exactly, music is such a mood thing. It is good for the list to compile relaxing music, but it may not be for everyone.

Though maybe it can be approached in reverse? As in, you sometimes listen to specific music while in a specific mood, but you can also listen to specific music to get into the mood you want. Then again, if heavy metal is the music that relaxes you most and you want to listen to it to calm yourself down after a crazy classic piano concert rave, then what can you do...

@DoctorEldritch In that case you could look for a compilation of heavy metal music!

@Saka Oh, we did one better, @galadrielmt got us covered. But it is always interesting to compare your collections to that of other fans of the genre that you like.

@DoctorEldritch @Saka. I do not always listen to metal music and often select different genres. It all depends on my mood like you've mentioned.

Off course there are limits to my selection. I do not like pop music. It sounds all the same to me. 😶

@galadrielmt covered metal and I'm almost done with my thread about Goth genre's. The 22nd of May is world Goth day. 🦇🦇

If you didn't know there's a specific day of the year dedicated to the Goth culture...now you know! 🙂

Actually there are a few Goth bands who had and opportunity to compose a song or two for a game. Gothic 3 and Vampire the Masquerade are two examples.

I just thought it was worth mentioning.

@DracoTarot I did not mean to imply that metal music is all you listen to, I just remember that you do.

It is nice that there is a day for everything now. I heard that Goth was sometime in May, but did not know the specific date. And Jazz Day is on the 30th of April, so they are not far apart, curiously. I did not make any posts about it this year, but there is one from the year before.

Well, Gothic 3 would not do its name justice if it did not have some Goth music in it. Though I did not know about Vampire the Masquerade, the one song I remember from there is Isolated by Chiasm. Is there Goth music in Bloodlines or Redemption?

    @DoctorEldritch I know you didn't imply I'm only a metal music lover 😁.

It all started in May 2009. A radio station in Great Britain was discussing music subcultures. Goth music DJs, Cruel Britannia, and Martin Oldgoth created World GothDay from this discussion. They decided the day would fall on May 22nd. World Goth Day began in the United Kingdom and is now celebrated worldwide.

World Goth Day also is a day we as goths pay tribute to Sophie Lancaster. Sophie was murdered for being who she was. Sophie and her boyfriend, Robert Maltby, were attacked by a group of teenage boys while walking through Stubbylee Park in Bacup, Rossendale, Lancashire, on 11 August 2007. As a result of the severe head injuries Lancaster sustained in the attack, she went into a coma from which she never regained consciousness, and died of her injuries thirteen days later.

The police said the attack was linked to the couple wearing
gothic fashion and being members of the goth subculture.

Both Bloodlines and Redemption have songs written by goth bands. One of those bands is called Blutengel!

@DracoTarot It's sad when music genres have tragic stories behind them, even if they do add to the tapestry of the genre's history. Jazz or blues may not have as a personal story as that but their origins are in a dark part of human history.

And it is especially sad that, while jazz and blues had their share of tragedy more than a hundred years ago, Goth had it not so long ago.

@DoctorEldritch excellent post! When the pandemic started, I played over 120 hours of the Witcher 3 and it helped me cope, not just with quarentine but with the situation in my life then. That year I learned that I suffer from anxiety and that I have deppressive tendencies (not the same as chronic depression!). It was a hard year for me and my husband, who had to cope with that as well. And this game, the music, the story, everything helped me like you have no idea. A good way out of reality but also deep enough to help me reflect about my own situation.
