    Hello Legion Gamers!

As we're now a third into the month of sci-fi and fiction, I was thinking about asking what are the best games based on sci-fi films and books, but then I thought that this question has been asked so many times already.

And indeed, there are popular answers out there with all the big names. Harry Potter, Lord of The Rings, and Witcher, to name a few, joined by less popular franchises like Mad Max. Though I am sure there are more, of course.

But as it happens, I've started playing The Pale Beyond just this week and was surprised about how much it reminded me of the Terror series that you may remember me mentioning once or twice before. Here is a trailer for the series:

And here is the one for The Pale Beyond game:

And it does create an interesting feeling where you can watch the story and play a similar experience in a game yourself. They are not connected at all, but share the same "vibe".

And it got me thinking, surely there are more examples like that, of games and series, films or books that are not from the same "source", but fit together like fish and chips, or tea and cake, or strawberries and whipped cream (or any other tasty analogy).

We discussed games with music before in the thread by @galadrielmt, and I would say that Brutal Legend would go very nicely with watching metal or rock concerts vibe-wise. @galadrielmt and @DracoTarot, do you watch the live recordings of concerts or only listen to music albums? The concert is not a proper film, but I'd say it still counts.

Or there are more classic examples with Godfather films and Mafia games (second in particular), they go very well together.

This is all I could think of so far. But I found the feeling of this media+game combo enjoyable in the case of The Pale Beyond or Mafia, and am looking for more examples to try, so I wanted to ask you now, does anything come to mind?

@DoctorEldritch I do like proper live concerts and have a vast collection. During the day when I'm busy with chores or something I'd rather have a live show on my telly or pc blasting away in the background instead of loading a few mp'3s into a media player.

I need to ponder a little over the media+game combo question. I know there are a few but can't remember all of them.

One example I can think of is the movie Menace to Society and GTA the game or even Scarface and GTA. 😊

Scarface the film can also fit with Mafia the games

I do not really listen to music out loud, only in headphones so as not to disturb my neighbors. But I remember your house having a large garden, so you can get away with blasting it loud, I guess.

Scarface fits more into the mafia vibe to me, but that's my opinion. GTA is...more "organized crime than mafia" if that makes sense.

@DoctorEldritch hello there, back from the underground again! To answer the question about listening to live concerts or rather the studio recording, I do a little bit of both. Anesthetize is the best live concert from Porcupine Tree and I rather listen to the live album that the original sutdio version in this case. Also anything live from Jinjer sounds amazing as well. But yeah, i do both and I also rather use headphones.

@galadrielmt welcome back! I am not familiar with those bands, maybe @DracoTarot would know them.

@DoctorEldritch I can help out with Jinjer. The singer Tetiana Shmailyuk has a unique voice and I also like listening to the band often. Let's just say I don't want to get into an argument with Tetiana when she's mad. I'll end up with bleeding ears. 😂

Listen to this song @DoctorEldritch and tell me what you think. @galadrielmt, I'm sure you know this one.

@galadrielmt that's awesome. Unfortunately we do not have the privilege to see many live bands here. They do not seem interested to tour our country.

@DracoTarot sorry to hear that, in my country of origin is the same.

@galadrielmt I really do not blame them. I wouldn't even tour my own country to be honest. 😶
