Sad news i used to watch e3 live event before covid i don't think it will disappear it's a matter of time until it is back stronger than before

@JetStream I remember before internet I used to read mgazines talking about what happened and what was announced there, then I started to watch conferences on the internet or at least read articles !
But what makes you think it will come back ? I explain why this question, manufacturers and editors have now their own conferences on YouTube (Ubisoft Forward, State of Play, Nintendo Direct ...) and it costs them a lot less of money and we should not forget that now in parallel we have the Summer Game Fest, where these brands like to be, and as a reminder the Summer Game Fest is organized by Geoff Keighley, the same person behind the ceremony of the Game Awards at end of the year

@GoLLuM13 I was sad to hear this, but mostly because E3 is where major upcoming games are usually announced, with exact dates if we're lucky. I am fine if such announcements will happen in a different format, so long as we know what is going on.

That being said, E3 is, of course, more than just announcements, but I've never been to one, so what I am thinking is, what separates E3 from the rest? Gaming is much more than just announcements from the big developers, of course, but many things like cosplay competitions, indie gatherings, and fan meetups can all can be covered in other various gaming conventions. What is it about E3 that can't be found anywhere else?

@DoctorEldritch E3 is one of the oldest and biggest events in the year since 1995. It was mostly for professionals (journalists) in the beginning before opening its doors to the public in mid to late 2010's.

While there are other events, E3 was the annual meeting for the summer for enthusiasts, where journalists and people could try games there, and it was an event for the locals, like the Tokyo Game Show in Japan, Paris Games Week in France or GamesCom for German. It's most of the time easier to attend those events when it is in our country than in another
