@DoctorEldritch Holy Macaroni Doc! Thank you so so much for sharing this! Soundtrack is awesome, a shooter with Mteal music as backgroung is one of the most brilliant ideas. Gave some of the soundtrack a listen. Pretty danm good selection of songs!

Glad you liked it! And as luck would have it, the game just got (on the 29th of March) a DLC which features the voices of Cristina Scabbia (Lacuna Coil) and Will Ramos (Lorna Shore):

@galadrielmt No need to say sorry and I have a connection to what you are saying.

On the other, hand if I need to go deep into the subject I feel for some of us, that which traditionally causes comfort leaves us feeling anxious rather than calm.

Yet, some kinds of darker experiences create feelings inside that are deeply comforting to those who simply cannot accept comfort in the more widely accepted traditional ways.

Brains such as mine have etched in processing grooves from a past which was full of long stretches of emotional pain and discomfort to the point where those places of darkness are what feels like our baseline.

When life is twisted and painful for long periods, your soul hurts and lingers in the past, leaving it feeling strangely compelling to stay hidden in the dark places.
Some people cannot accept joy and kindness at all from others, because it cannot be accepted into their darkened souls. It feels alien and jarring.

We do try, and it’s often a source of pain and distress for partners and friends who try to show love and comfort, but who fail to hit the right ways as our receptors are wired upside down compared to their own.

Whilst many of us with painful pasts can accept some level of joy and light into our lives many of us also seek out the darker sides of the world around us alongside this.

Dark films, dark humour, dark imagery, and dark clothes feel familiar to be around and therefore comfortable to those who grew up in a wilderness of abuse or neglect.

We seek out the dark because it's the only thing that creates a space that feels safe around us. The light carries no intrinsic balm to our soul, but the darkness feels like a warm cosy blanket wrapped around us.

Goths and vampires, skulls and bones, dystopian nightmares, Lovecraft and Poe, they all pull us in, those that were forged in fire and ashes. They speak to something twisted inside and create a sense we are not alone in our fortress of solitude.

When we finally find a passage out of the danger, a way to let go of our trauma, do we shy away from the darkness? Perhaps some do, but I still find it comforting, like an old worn-in pair of leather boots, its darkness feels like lazy Sundays and Sunrays on my face.

The darkness, the controlled fright, the playful ways we can take control of the dark. Illusion or not, it feels “normal” to me.

Isn’t all magic made of shadows, light, reflections and distraction? Perhaps it’s a kind of magic, this perverse translation of dark to light.

Perhaps the bleak imagery and artifice are a kind of magic for those who needed a light to shine their way to somewhere that made us feel acceptable, a place we belong.
Whilst I am a long way from my trauma triggers and constant mental pain at this stage, I am still immensely comforted by dark imagery and content in what I view and read.

The dark is my home, and even though the light shines in now, the shadows of my past are thrown by lanterns of warmth. It’s a place where sorrow can be refined into hope, madness into genius, and trauma translated into memories.

Apologies for my long post! 😶

    @galadrielmt obviously I listen to Limp Bizkit too, it's a must 😁

If I may, there is this song that I wanted to share, that you probably all know and that I like, and if you don't know it, well I hope you'll like it 😁

@DoctorEldritch I just knew you going to ask me that question! 😂 Well I have two banners I wanted to use and the Iron Maiden Clairvoyant banner has more of an adequate shape for the vape cabinet.

My Tarot cabinet has a banner from another heavy metal band. The band's name as you may notice is called TAROT. It was either the Clairvoyant banner or the Tarot banner for the card cabinet and Tarot's album cover fit the theme better.

@GoLLuM13 Limb Bizkit was a great band back in the day. Wonder what happened to them. I know Fred Durst has done a few solo projects.

One of my favourite songs from Limb Bizkit is Break Stuff!!

@DracoTarot absolutely. I feel the same way, and I had a very out or ordinary chilhood (I was born and raised in a dictatorship), and though I have many happy memories as a child in my country, it was not a normal or healthy situiation for a child. I was looking for something that would make me feel good and happy and powerful and music did help me for a while, but then it was not enough. Until I discovered metal and goth and industrial, and I had all this amazing feelings and emotions from it, and then I could not let go anymore.

Right now I am on a very painful healing process, seeking therapy and debating and learning many things from myself, but I have never feel more comforted and embraced by darkness, music and the subculture in general, I feel like even though I am hurting and healing, I can be myself like never before (grew up in a very religious family).

Yes, darkness is comfort for me, and it is exactly as you have described.

I just found myself humming this for few days now, which made me travel back in the past, I used to play Counter Strike (against bots) and Warcraft while listening to this, so I wanted to share this with you

@GoLLuM13 Ah yea!! Good Old Dragonforce. They are an awesome band. This song reminded me of my Guitar Hero days and the awesome guitar solo of Through the Fire and Flames I tried to master on the hard level.

I then tried playing it on Rocksmith and failed miserably. 😂

If you do not know the song here it is. Really a neck breaker!! The Solo starts around 3:05 in the vid 😊
