    Hello Legion Gamers!

Today is World Book Day! A perfect day to share your favourite books with the world. Mine would be Pratchett's Discworld series.

Please share yours if you wish.

And as Women in Gaming month is gaining steam, this is a perfect opportunity to talk about some books on the subject, thankfully, there is some variety.

For example, there is a nice book called Women in Gaming: 100 Professionals of Play:

It features a collection of essays that discuss the issues women are facing in the gaming industry and connected spheres such as cosplaying, streaming, and voice acting, and even deconstruct famous female characters like Lara Croft and Samus and their significance for the industry. This a good place to start if you want to know more about Women in Gaming in broad terms.

And for those who wish for a more personal and industry-specific approach, there is Gamer Girls: 25 Women Who Built the Video Game Industry:

This book honours 25 women who had significant contributions to the gaming industry over the years, all the way from the 1960s. It is an inspiring book for both gamers and those who want to work in the industry and offers a more personal insight into the lives of famous women in gaming. One of the names mentioned is Muriel Tramis, referred in the book as "the French "knight" of video games". Maybe @GoLLuM13 knows her?

And for those who want deeper insight into more harmful harassment and discrimination against female gamers that @Liue mentioned in his post, there is Gaming Sexism: Gender and Identity in the Era of Casual Video Games:

This book examines through a series of in-depth interviews the issues and problems that females are facing in gaming spaces and, which is particularly valuable, gives some advice on how such inequalities can be overcome. A worthwhile read for those who experienced inequality and/or want to help to stop it.

Of course, there are more books on Women in Gaming, as it is a subject well worth discussing, so those 3 books are just the top of the pile, but they are a good place to start for those who wish to explore the issue in a greater depth.

Maybe someone here read one of them already? And if not, which one of the 3 would you want to read?

@DoctorEldritch Sorry I don't know her, but I know Jade Raymond that is a big name in the industry nowadays, she worked with Sony, EA, Ubisoft and was VP of Stadia before she funded her own studio Haven Studios in 2021 before Sony (once again) bought it

Unfortnately I read on this Report on harassment in online gaming by @Saka that 38% of women have been the direct target of harassment, which is huge

If I had to pick one of those 3 I would definitely get a peek on the second "Gamer Girls: 25 Women Who Built the Video Game Industry"

Why that one, because of Muriel Tramis or did something else catch your eye?
