Hello Legion Gamers!

Fans of the Yakuza series (@ZaidH) or Ghost of Tsushima or Japan history, rejoice. SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio released their latest remake today, Like a Dragon: Ishin!

Those who played the Yakuza series will notice many familiar faces, but the setting is set in the 1860s, and the story is completely separate from the main series.

But there's more: I sang praises to Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio several times already for how they do remakes (notwithstanding their fancy of micro-transactions DLC lately, those we could do without, but devs gotta eat, I guess). Their Yakuza 1&2 Kiwami remakes were more than just cosmetic, they reworked the gameplay mechanics and added quests and lore.

Same here, the original Ryū ga Gotoku Ishin! from 2014 got a rework with new visuals added and you can spot characters from Yakuza: Like a Dragon, that to my knowledge were not in the original game (Yakuza: Like a Dragon was released in 2020). So this is a nice example not only of a good game but also of a tutorial for making quality remakes.

And it is set in the turbulent Bakumatsu period of Japan's history, a period not often featured in games.

So those who are waiting for Ghost of Tsushima to make its way to PC or those who want to step into the shoes of a gunslinging samurai, this here is a game for you!
