Ubisoft presented us with the Year 8 Roadmap and here is a summary of it, because the content was very dense.

    Seasonal Content :
We will have a total of 04 seasons, 04 agents from 04 different countries, Brazil with Brava that we saw yesterday, but also Sweden, South Korea and Portugal, we will also have 04 Battle Pass and 04 events.

    Main Features :
    • For season 01 we will have the Mousetrap on console and the Reloading Rework (which we also saw yesterday) no more magic magazines that come out of nowhere, every decision will have an impact.
    • Season 02 will welcome new modes in the shooting range, as well as the permanent arcade mode (with a little extra at launch).
    • In season 03 we will have the rework of Quick Matches under the name "Quick Match 2.0", which starts from a simple observation "Quick Matches should be… fast." So, the new features for this mode will allow you to start games faster and take full advantage of the gameplay of Rainbow Six Siege. The goal is to have a fun experience, to have fun with your team, in short, to have fun as quickly as possible.
    • Season 04 will be entitled to a new map and the "AI Defender Playlist" mode which through a machine learning algorithm, fed by current players, will simulate people who will do what a person should do, that is- ie place the gadgets in the right places, barricade walls around the site to be defended and make logical and adequate rotations. The purpose would also be to bring "AI Assailant Playlist" in a future update. Ultimately, we can learn new maps and agents via the AI Defender Playlist.
    Balancing :
    • We saw it yesterday, for season 01, improved barrels, compensator and muzzle breaker
    • For season 02 we will have the rework of one of the oldest map "Consulate" as well as the Rework of Frost. Frost's Rework will revolve around her gadget, "the mat". Anyone who plays Rainbow Six Siege knows it's frustrating to get stuck in Frost's mat. From now on, if we have enough time, we will now be able to remove the mat by ourselves. However, Frost or another opponent will be able to hunt us down, following the big trail of blood we leave behind us.

    • In Season 03 the defenders will be entitled to a new one at their disposal. The observation blocker will allow the defense to control the information collected by the attackers. Very useful to force them to change tactics or use stuff! In concrete terms, it's a gadget that you deploy next to your camera, for example, the gadget will create a transparent curtain that will prevent the attackers' drone from seeing said camera.
    • Season 04 will be an opportunity to update the shield mechanism (yes, a rework, finally). You can reload behind your shield, turn your head from side to side without turning your whole body, in short goodbye to being shot blind and dying, dying behind your shield, or even not succeeding in your shot without zooming. However, the attackers will still have tools to defend themselves, but from a distance.
    Player Protection :
In order to have a fair and fun experience for everyone, a zero tolerance policy towards cheaters and toxicity will be applied.

The new measures that will be put in place to protect players and further reduce toxicity are:
    • QB is a new anti-cheat solution that Ubisoft has developed in-house, aimed at reducing the various in-game cheat problems even further. With QB the production of cheat solutions will become more expensive, which will have the effect of making them less profitable.

    • Mousetrap that we saw yesterday will aim to reduce the impact of keyboard-mouse players on consoles and make the experience fairer! This measure will see iterative evolution over the seasons.

    • The recommendation system between players is coming! We can rate the player after a match on our gaming experience together, the idea being to reduce smurfs accounts. The system will be monitored so that players do not abuse it.

    • And finally, the privacy mode, already available on PC, is coming to consoles.

    Player Comfort :
    • In Season 01, we will see Beginner Challenges. By completing these challenges, we will unlock agents, among other things, as we progress!

    • In season 02, the new shooting range modes.
    • Season 03 will introduce a series of playable tutorials. Each map will allow players to learn abseiling, droning, boosting, destroying, and verticality. After completing everything, it will be possible to receive 5 new agents in defense and 5 in attack.

    • In Season 04, it will be the "AI Defender Playlist".
    • Throughout the seasons, but without having any precision on the precise moment of the arrival of these options, we will also be entitled to:
      • Gadget interaction improvements, such as deploying and/or picking up gadgets. This will avoid having to "dance" to find the right place to deploy the defuser.
      • Free camera for match replays.
      • Spectator mode
      • ... other surprises.
    Onboarding :

In addition to the Mousetrap, the privacy mode, we will also have a new customization of the controller presets (remap of the buttons).

I leave you the roadmap for year 8 below:

For year 8 there will also be Annual Passes.

    • The Annual Pass (Year 8 Pass) will give us access to:
      • 14-day early access to new agents
      • 10% discount in the shop
      • Exclusive Skin "Pack Ace"
    • The Annual Premium Pass (Year 8 premium Pass) will give us access to:
      • Content of the Annual Pass
      • 20 Battle Pass tokens per season
      • Exclusive Skin "Thunderbird Bundle"
The Passes will be available from Monday, February 20 for a limited time that will run until March 20.

Finally, a little word about the esports scene and the 2023 season of Rainbow Six Siege which is in partnership with the Danes of Blast, which is why the first major event will take place in Copenhagen in Denmark, then the second in the USA and to finish the next Six Invitational 2024 will take place for the first time elsewhere than in Montreal, and it will be in Brazil.

As usual, here is the full reveal in video :

That's cool but, it's been quite some time since I played Rainbow 6 Siege, it has problems running on my laptop sadly. So a question if you still play the game, Is Ash's hitbox still a problem in the game? :D

@Darklord2099 with 2124.5 hours since 2016, yes, I'm still playing the game 😜 I was also thinking there were a problem with hitboxes, but there is none. When I saw replays in slow motion, I understood that. My biggest issue right now is the constant nerf of weapons by adding vertical and/or horizontal recoil, which makes me miss some shots until I learn again how to use those weapons obviously, but it takes some time

@GoLLuM13 I a not really into Rainbow Six Siege all that much, but I like it when developers announce their plans, and everything is laid out in an orderly fashion. I just recently mentioned this to @Liue. Still, it is good to see the support for the game and the readiness of game devs to allocate resources to its development.

@DoctorEldritch I agree, roadmaps are always a good thing for fans to know what's coming next, even if there are delays and changes, it gets updated and everybody is still in the know

@GoLLuM13 I usually wait for all DLCs and expansions to come out before playing, so if there is a roadmap, then I can know when exactly I would be able to play a new game. Makes it somewhat easier to wait for it.

@DoctorEldritch totally relatable, I hate it when I buy a collector or deluxe edition just to find that there are new DLCs that aren't included, but they are in a cheaper Game of The Year Edition 😅

@GoLLuM13 Ugh, that is the worst. I wonder why the developers do that. At the same time, it puts you sort of on the fence because more content is always good.

Like with Dead Cells. Last year they released that DLC, The Queen and The Sea, which had a finale feel to it. The lore building up to that and all those little hints dropped in-game before came to fruition, and it provided an alternative ending for the game, and overall, it seemed like story-wise the game was at an end.

This was true enough, only for the devs to later reveal a massive cross-over with the Castlevania series where the Dead Cells protagonist gets to travel to the whole new location of Dracula's Castle to defeat the legendary vampire.

Which is good, of course, but I also felt a bit cheated. Just tell me when you will be all done with the game so I can start playing it.

Though perhaps Dead Cells is not the best example, it is a roguelike game so a gradual increase in content is more warranted than in RPG games like Witcher 3 or Assassin's Creed. But still.
